‘The lamps are different but
the light is the same.’
(Rumi Jalal)
• In pairs, think about what this quote suggests
about the Muslim attitudes towards racial
harmony?
• Share: How can we use this as an example?
What does Islam teach about racism
and equality?...
‘People descended from Adam, and Adam
was made out of dust. There is no
superiority for an Arab over an non-Arab,
neither for a white man over a black man...’
‘all people
are as equal
as the teeth
of a comb.’
'Allah does not
look upon your
outward
appearance, he
looks upon your
hearts and
deeds'.
Islam is opposed to racism.
The Prophet Muhammad taught that everyone is equal and
the only thing that separates one person from another is their
good/bad actions.
In Islam all races are EQUAL and loved by Allah.
One of the most important of all teachings in
Islam is that EVERY Muslim is part of the
UMMAH (the worldwide Muslim community).
