construction flat on your desk.

TRI- always means 3.

What is a four-sided shape called?

Literally means “4” angles or “4” sides.
QUAD always means 4.

Quadrilaterals
• Make a quadrangle with all four sides
equal length.

Pull two opposite corners of the square in
opposite directions.
Are the angles still right? NO
Are the pairs of opposite sides the same
length? YES
What is the new shape called? rhombus

Use two straws of one length and two
straws of a different length.
Make a quadrangle with pairs of opposite
sides the same length and all right
angles.
