• Solid and partially melted rock
• Similar composition of Crust (but
mostly O, Si, Mg, and Fe)
Lithosphere
• Crust and rigid, upper part of
mantle
Asthenosphere
• Partially melted rock
• Flows slowly – soft plastic
Core
• Inner: Solid (pressure is too great:
can not melt)
–Iron and Nickel
• Outer: Molten Metal (so hot that it
melts)
