• Architecture of Enterprise Manager
• Components involved
• Overview of New & Enhanced Features in 13c
INTRODUCTION TO OEM13C
ORACLE ENTERPRISE MANAGER- WHY?
• Provides a centralized monitoring and management platform for IT
infrastructure.
• One tool to monitor and manage all Oracle databases.
• Can manage and monitor various targets (host, ASM, RAC, Listener,
Weblogic, Tomcat, Apache and many more).
• It’s possible to add more target types using plug-ins.
• Easy to maintain: Familiar components (Oracle products), My Oracle
Support.
KEY CAPABILITIES OF OEM13C
• Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c therefore introduces “always on”
monitoring
• Planned downtime windows - another exciting feature being
introduced is “notification blackouts”
• “Stack management” - unification of hardware and software
management
• “Infrastructure management” - target types: servers, storage, network,
VMs in Enterprise Manager.
• “Integration of Exacheck” - generate automated notifications and
reports for any violation in their Exadata configurations.

EM CLI & EMCTL
 EM CLI enables users to access Enterprise Manager functionality
through a command-line interface or scripts.
 EM CLI is fully integrated with Enterprise Manager's security and user
administration functions.
 Examples of EM CLI tasks you can accomplish are as follows:
 Create a new Enterprise Manager administrator account.
 Monitor and manage targets, jobs, groups, and blackouts.
 EMCTL is a command line utility installed with EM to administer or
control the core components of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control,
particularly Oracle Management Service (OMS) and Oracle
Management Agent (Management Agent).
