What is Cancer?
Cancer!
• Uncontrolled cell growth.
• Often results in a tumor which is a large mass of
cells.
• Tumors cause the tissue it is located in to stop
functioning correctly. They can also impair the
function of surrounding tissues.
• Cancer cells can be ‘benign’ or ‘metastatic”
• Benign cancers are isolated to one area of the
body and curable.
• Metastatic cancers spread throughout the body
and are difficult to cure.
