What is Retinoblastoma?
Childhood cancer
 Caused by immature retinal cells in one or
both eyes
 It is most common eye cancer in children
 350 new cases in US each
year and over 5000 cases
worldwide

Common Signs




A white “glow” in the pupil of the eye
in dim lighting
Crossed or misaligned eyes
Poor vision
Swollen tissue around the eye
Diagnosis





Fundoscopic examination
Computed tomography scan
MRI
Blood tests
Genetic and/or DNA testing
Treatment




Individualized for each patient –
patients survival is primary goal
Enucleation
