Marginal Revenue is the change in total revenue attributable to each additional unit sold. MR = chg TR / chg q Because the perfectly competitive firm sells each additional unit at the same price, the Marginal Revenue Curve is the Demand Curve. Average Revenue is the ratio of total revenue to total quantity sold. It represents the average price received for each unit. AR = TR / q Because the perfectly competitive firm sells each additional unit at the same price, the Marginal Revenue Curve is the Average Revenue Curve.
