ØRESUND METRO
COPENHAGEN
MALMÖ
Key points in the Øresund perspective
• The Øresund integration is decreasing after a growth period
from 2000 – 2008 - the financial crises has stoped the
integration. Danes are moving back to Copenhagen.
• The fixed link has up till today created positive value within
the region: 7,6 billion Euro - mostly due to labor comuting
across the sound.
• Growing population in the region and the main cities –
Copehagen and Malmø
• possibilities for a more integrated labor marked
• need for more housing on both sides
• need for better infrastructure connecting the core cities
Copenhagen – the city with most young people
in Denmark

Provide an opportunity to use the existing connection

Possibillities
We are investigating the possibilities of building a new
metro line connecting Copenhagen and Malmø directly
• the ecomomic, cultural, labormarked etc. Effects
• the impact on the common infrastructure system
• how to build a metro line – tunnel or bridge
