Gen2 SupIRBuck™ Family
The second generation of SupIRBuck™ family of integrated point-ofload (POL) voltage regulators features IR’s latest advantages in
control IC, MOSFETs and package integration technologies to deliver
up to 12A output current in a low-profile, thermally enhanced 5x6 mm
Power-QFN package. The four Gen2 devices, IR3831MTRPbF,
IR3840MTRPbF, IR3841MTRPbF and IR3842MTRPbF are fully
featured for server, storage, Netcom and telecom applications and
are designed to offer benchmark efficiency over the entire load range
and a very high switching frequency for significant overall system size
reduction. While optimized for 12V input voltage, superior efficiencies
are also achieved in applications with 9.6V, 5V or 3.3V input voltages.
Moreover, the device’s common scalable footprint offer a high level of
flexibility for easy on board implementation.

Features
• Wide input voltage range (1.5V to 16V with
5V bias)
• Wide output voltage range (0.75V to 90%
VIN)
• Pin compatible solution for 4, 8 and 12A
• Small footprint (5x6mm) with low height
(0.9mm)
• Programmable frequency up to 1.5MHz
• 1% accurate 0.7V reference voltage
• Programmable hiccup current limit
• Programmable soft start
• Enhanced pre-bias start up
• Thermal Protection
• Enable pin with Voltage monitoring capability
• Power Good output
• -40C to 125C operating temperature
Advantages
• These devices offer benchmark efficiency over the entire load range of
above 96% peak efficiency, resulting in energy saving and very simple
thermal management
• The ability to operate at very high switching frequency and the small
footprint allows reducing the solution size making these devices ideal for
space constrained applications.
• The excellent package thermal properties and low height allow back-side
mounting for additional space saving
• High programmability and a common footprint for 4A, 8A and 12A
modules make these devices very flexible for easy implementation along
with a faster time-to-market.
• These devices are optimized for 12V input voltage and eliminate the
need for traditional dual stage POL conversion, thus saving energy, size
and cost by operating directly from 12VIN.
