Sloths are extremely slow-moving medium-sized
mammals. There are two species of sloths: twotoed and three-toed. Most sloths are about the
size of a small dog and they have short, flat
heads. Their hair is grayish brown but, at times
they look grey-green in color because they
move so slowly. Some sloths stay in the same
tree for years. Their long arms allow them to
spend most of their time hanging upside-down
from trees. Sloths rarely climb down from the
trees and can live for up to 30 years.
Sloths are nocturnals and they sleep about 18 hours a
day.
Sloths lives in trees. You can found them in Central
Ameria and South America.
Sloths eat: buds, tender shoots, leaves (mainly of
Cecropia trees), Eating insects, small reptiles and
birds. They also eat human feces.
Sloths predators are: harpy eagles, large snakes, and
jaguars. They sleep curled up with their head placed
between the arms and the feet drawn close together.
This disguises them as part of a tree so that its
predators don’t see them.
I think that the sloths are unique because:
they spent a lot of time sleeping.
their claws are very big.
We can:
 plants more Cecropia trees.
 take care of their habitat.
 Human cut down many trees.
The humans also reduce their habitat.
