Figure S3. an3 Plants Possess Reduced Every Water Loss and Improved WUE as a Result of
Lower Transpiration and Stomatal Conductance.
(A) Every water loss of 6-week-old wild-type (Col-0) and an3 plants grown soil under normal
conditions was assayed (mean ± SD, n= 3; **P < 0.01). Shoot dry weight (B) was the mean ±
SD (n = 3).
(C) Integrated WUE of wild-type and an3 plants under well water conditions was determined
from gravimetric measurements of water loss and shoot dry weight during 6 weeks (mean ± SD,
n=10; **P < 0.01).
(D) Leaf transpiration ratio, (E) instantaneous WUE, (F) stomatal conductance, (G) internal
CO2 concentration, (H) net CO2 assimilation, and (I) VPD were assayed on individual leaves of
6-week-old wild-type (Col-0) and an3 plants using a Li-Cor 6400 gas exchange system (mean ±
SD, n= 3 **P < 0.01; *P < 0.05). For obtaining well developed and largened leaves, we irrigated
plants using 1/15 MS liquid.
