ABYSSAL
• Abiotic factors- Sediment, volcanic ash, chemical precipitation, and wind
blown dust.
• Biotic Factors- oarfish, giant squid, viper fish, deep sea shrimp and cusk eel.
ABYSSAL
• Limiting factors- amount of sunlight, and pressure.
ABYSSAL
• Viper fish- salt water fish, long needle teeth, hinged jaw, 30-40 year life
span. Carnivore. Top predator.
• Giant squid- Deep ocean dweller. 8 species. Hunts deep sea fish. Rare to see.
• Oar fish- 10-50 feet long. Lives 30,000 feet below sea level. Largest boney
fish in the sea. Carnivore. Secondary consumer.

Symbiotic Relations
• Predation: Viper fish – Deep sea shrimp
• Mutualism: Bacteria – Anglerfish
• Parasitism: Hosedax worm – Whale carcasses

• Abiotic- hot dry summer, cold moist winters, poor soil, and periodic fires.
• Biotic- Coyotes, mule deer, jack rabbit, honey bees, scrub oak, yucca.

• Limiting factors- weather conditions, soil, rain fall.

• Kangaroo-Tail for balance, front limbs smaller, large ears, 5 digits on their
hands. Acute sense of smell, sight, and hearing. Powerful legs. Eats autotrophs.
• Elephant- Tusks, rough skin, big ears
• Rattlesnake- poison, shedding skin, cold blooded, eats other animals

• Mutualism: Blue oak- Common Sage
• Commensalism: Red-winged black bird- Torrey pine
• Parasitism: parasites and Brewer black bird
