Note – must use SSMS that comes with SQL Server 2008R2 SP1. Original version of SSMS 2008 or SSMS 2008R2 aren’t enough! 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 13 7 – Creating a table against Azure Database Error occurs if we try to insert a row into a table that does not have a clustered index. Doesn’t occur on the CREATE TABLE statement – but when we try to INSERT a row 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 14 7 – Creating a table against Azure Database Works correctly!!! 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 15 8 – Create SSRS Service 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 16 9 – SSRS Web Service URL SSRS Web Service URL: https://8o7vpuobcf.reporting.windows.net/reportserver We can create reports using BIDS/SQL Server Data Tools, and deploy to this URL But before we create an SSRS report project, we need the FULL connection string for the Azure SQL Database (next slide) 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 17 10 – ADO.NET Connection String Can use this, plus the Web Service URL from prior slide, to create SSRS projects 5/22/2017 Windows Azure/SQL Databases 18 11 – Local SSRS Project using Azure Database Make sure to set Data Source Type as SQL Azure Connection string comes from ADO.NET string from prior slide.
