Cell Cycle
Interphase:
 Period between cell divisions.
 Cell doubles its original size.
 All normal cell functions occur.
 No cell division happens.
 Chromosomes are duplicated
during this phase.
 DNA is found in chromosomes.
Mitosis
 Process by which cells reproduce
 Happens by dividing the nucleus &
cytoplasm and duplicating
chromosomes
 4-step process (PMAT)
Step 1: Prophase
Nuclear membrane begins to
disappear.
Step 2: Metaphase
Pairs of chromosomes line up
in the middle of the cell.
Step 3: Anaphase
Pairs of chromosomes split
apart.
Step 4: Telophase
 Last stage of mitosis.
 Furrow forms in the middle
of the cell to complete the
dividing of the cell.
Cytokinesis
Cell division is complete.
Results in two (daughter) cells.
