Venus’s Atmosphere and Temperature •Venus is scorched with a surface temperature of about 900 degrees Fahrenheit. • The very high temperature is due to a runaway greenhouse effect caused by the heavy atmosphere of carbon dioxide. What Venus Really Looks Like • Until recently, scientists had been wondering what the surface of Venus looks like; now they do . Venus’s Surface • Venus’s surface is very young geographically speaking.
