Women and Heart Disease One in four women dies from heart disease, making it the #1 killer of women, regardless of race or ethnicity. Symptoms of Heart Disease in Women: Symptoms of a Heart Attack in Women: • The most important sign is feeling • Women might not have chest pain!! • Feeling heavy, tight, or burning in the chest • Pain in the back, between the shoulders • Pain or tightness in the chest that spreads to the jaw, neck, shoulders, ear, or the inside of the arms • Pain in the belly, above the belly button really tired - even if after enough sleep. • Trouble breathing or sleeping • Feeling sick to the stomach • Feeling scared or nervous • New or worsening headaches • Changing your risk factors: • Stop smoking or using tobacco. • Get plenty of exercise. At least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. • Maintain a healthy weight.
