MEDIA RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chengdu presents new opportunities to be discovered Mar 29, 2016, BEIJING – The fourth edition of Chengdu International Tourism Expo (CITE) will be held at Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center from 1 – 3 December 2016. The second airport is expected to cost US$11.2 billion. As the fourth largest air hub in China, Chengdu offers 83 direct flights, linking Chengdu to 195 cities. -More- Apart from Chengdu, China’s tourism market continues to grow. In 2015, China outbound tourists reached 109 million, 5 years ahead of the World Trade Organization’s prediction in 2005. Total outbound spending in 2015 reached an all-time high of US$229 billion. The tourism market in China is expected to continue to grow. According to the Agility Affluent Insights by Agility Research & Strategy, 75% of the Chinese surveyed agreed that they will have higher disposable income in 2016 and 83% agreed that they will travel more for leisure. While 82% of the Chinese surveyed do their travel bookings online, 55% preferred to use a travel booking online. Mr Liu also shared that the first two days will be only open to trade visitors and hosted buyers, while the third day will be open to public and trade visitors, offering exhibitors opportunities to meet and network with both public and trade visitors.
