CITY OF SAN JUAN, TEXAS BOOSTS NETWORK
PERFORMANCE WITH RADWIN
Municipality deploys RADWIN 5000 and benefits from immediate results
Tel Aviv, Israel, 2013 - RADWIN (www.radwin.com), the global provider of sub-6 GHz broadband wireless
solutions, today announced that the City of San Juan, Texas deployed its RADWIN 5000 Point-toMultipoint systems to replace its existing T1 infrastructure. RADWIN 5000 systems significantly improve
the performance of the City of San Juan’s network which connects municipality offices and facilities
throughout the city. Frontera Consulting and Crystal Communications were in charge of project planning
and implementation. Winncom Technologies was the distributor for the project.
Darel Parker of Frontera Consulting: “Traffic over the City of San Juan’s wireless network has
skyrocketed in recent years. This resulted in T1 circuits losing connections, causing major disruptions
and adversely affecting the workflow and efficiency of the City of San Juan. The City sought a solution
that would dramatically boost network capacity and reliability and easily scale to accommodate future
network growth. We knew that RADWIN 5000 was the right fit for the job.”
Hussein Bakka, IT Director, City of San Juan: “Once project installation was complete the results were
instantly apparent; more throughput to each of the City facilities and significantly improved network
stability and reliability that is making a real difference! From the police department to the public works
department, everyone is able to work more efficiently thanks to RADWIN 5000. As we move forward
with other initiatives such as video surveillance and backhaul for city-wide Wi-Fi services, RADWIN
5000 is our product of choice.”
Drew Lentz, Sr. Presales Engineer for Winncom: “RADWIN 5000 PtMP solution provides the reliability,
scalability, dedicated capacity per site and increased throughput that the customer required. With the
RADWIN 5000 base station providing 250 Mbps capacity and a combination of 20 Mbps and 50 Mbps
remote units installed across the City’s facilities, we effortlessly tackled the reliability and throughput
issues. From the beginning we used RADWIN’s advanced R-Planner tool to optimize network planning
and predict future network growth. This enabled us to build multiple ‘what-if’ scenarios to determine
the correct equipment and installation sites.”
Jody Nicewonger, RADWIN’s US Central Region Sales Director: “We are proud to have been chosen for
this prestigious project. RADWIN offers a complete solution for cities – point-to-point, point-tomultipoint, video surveillance transmission as well as mobility solutions. Our portfolio of products
addresses the needs of government bodies that require reliable networks to support a variety of
bandwidth-intensive applications. With our solutions, cities like San Juan benefit from much higher
network capacity, fast deployment times and lowest total cost of ownership.”
