This non-profit, community-based organization provides a range of medical services, including adult and pediatric care, dental, mental health, substance abuse, HIV care and consultation, women’s health services, and convenient in-house pharmacies. Supporting growth with new technology The demand for patient-centered healthcare has driven the growth of Chase Brexton over the years. Chesapeake has been their trusted technology partner for over 10 years, beginning with a small Panasonic phone system in a single clinic in Baltimore. Now Chase Brexton has 3 locations, and a new one opening in Columbia. Needing a way to unify their Baltimore area locations’ voice and data networks, Chase Brexton turned to Chesapeake. Unified communications for a network of caregivers Today Mitel’s 3300 ICP phone systems and HP ProCurve data switches provide the platform for Chase Brexton’s new IP voice network. MPLS broadband access links carry both voice and data traffic between offices. The IP voice network enables 4-digit dialing between offices, and centralized voice mail helps the staff stay in touch with patients and pickup messages no matter where they work. Executives can connect from their home offices without ever missing a beat. Keeping the network healthy Mitel’s Enterprise Manager lets the IT team take care of all sites, and a call accounting program monitors usage and costs at every site. Chesapeake arranged to certify Chase Brexton’s network administrator on the Mitel IP system, and Chesapeake is ready with local support, remotely or on premises, as needed. Lending a helping hand As Chase Brexton looks to the future, VoIP will play a major role in its continuing success in supporting patient care, expanding medical services to the community, and adding locations.
