Hardware Installation of the Sweex PCI Wireless LanCard
Please take the following precautions before installing the hardware:
Ensure the PC is switched off and is not connected to the power supply.
1. Also disconnect the printer and monitor cables as they have independent power supplies. This will ensure there are no live parts in the PC.
2. Unscrew the computer case.
3. After unscrewing and opening the computer case, make sure you discharge any static electricity that is still on you. Do this by touching e.g.
an unpainted central heating or water pipe. When doing so, do not use a magnetic screwdriver. Once again touch the metal frame of the PC case.
Avoid touching any contact points in the PC, card or memory.
4. Find a free PCI slot and remove the metal protection cap inside the relevant slot in the computer case. It may be slightly difficult to insert the card
into the PCI slot. If this happens, do not use force but try a different free slot.
5. Once the card has been inserted successfully, check that all the other cards are still properly inserted in their PCI slots. Sometimes when inserting a
PCI card, the other PCI cards are moved upwards causing the relevant card or even the entire PC to stop working.
6. Next replace the cap on the computer case and correctly reconnect all cables that were removed from the PC.
7. Connect the aerial supplied.
8. Power up the PC again.
