Research Works
The Department of Information Technology encourages and motivates the
students to undertake research projects in various verticals in collaboration with
other institutions.
The Research Projects undertaken are :
1. BLE Healthcare - Funded by DST under TIFAC CORE and supervised by
Mr.Balaji Ganesh, Professor (Research) Velammal Engineering College,
Chennai.
The project is about fetching the health condition such as temperature, pulse
rate etc., and displaying it in the doctor’s Smartphone using Bluetooth. The
data from Smartphone should be sent to the destination through router using
Wi - Fi. From destination, the data sent from various doctors will undergo
X-OR operation and display the data in Smartphone.

2. Hybrid Communication - Funded by DST under TIFAC CORE and
supervised by Mr.Balaji Ganesh, Professor (Research) Velammal
Engineering College, Chennai.
Android application to interface Bluetooth Protocol and Wi – Fi
Protocol in the DST project titled “Wireless sensor network in Detection of
spoilage in stored grain” .The application will receive the data i.e., some
input in the format of string from the sensor node (which can measure
temperature, humidity, moisture etc..) through the Bluetooth connection.
The received data will be made send to more than one coordinator
nodes (another Mobile) through the Wi-Fi connection. The coordinator
nodes are connected with the router through IP address.

3.Creation Of Graphical User Interface For Wireless Sensor Network
Architecture - Funded by DST under TIFAC CORE and supervised by
Mr.Balaji Ganesh, Professor (Research) Velammal Engineering College,
Chennai.
The data from the micro-controller is taken in the text file. The data in the
text file will have information such as Temperature, CO2 level, Humidity.
The main aim is to replicate those data and present them in the front end
using Java Swing. The layout was designed which could show the data
movement. Main task was to differentiate the data which is sent to two
different relay. The relay node is used to save the battery life of the sender
node. The patient’s complete details will be continuously sent to the relay as
well as the receiver node.
