Video Selection Guide Avaya Scopia and Avaya Aura Conferencing 7 (AAC7). The Avaya Video Collaboration Suite is the ultimate video collaboration solution for enterprise customers. It includes both Avaya Scopia and Avaya Aura Conferencing 7 (AAC7). Why both? Because each solution addresses different needs. Together, they offer unmatched capacity to connect and collaborate as well as to deliver services and customer support through video. The ultimate goal is to empower employees with the tools they need to connect, engage and succeed. Keep in mind that user requirements can change as video is introduced. The advantages to connecting to co-‐workers, customers and partners by video often become clear after the solution is deployed. Help clients think, not only about how they do business today, but how that might change as video is deployed to more employees. Scopia HD quality. Simple connectivity outside the enterprise. Interoperability with legacy video technology. Avaya Scopia provides the highest possible quality video conferencing experience and easily connects to all types of video systems including room systems from other vendors. Scopia also makes it easy to connect with all types of users including customers, vendors and partners outside the corporate firewall. Scopia allows companies to invite anyone to join a high-‐quality, interactive video session using almost any video-‐capable device including smartphones, tablets and desktop systems. Security and Control. Unlike most consumer video technologies, Scopia allows companies to connect with others outside the enterprise without compromising security or control. HD-‐Quality and Smart Bandwidth Management. Scopia offers a rich HD-‐quality video experience in both the document and video channels. That’s important for room system applications as well as for sharing high-‐resolution documents, like diagnostic images. Plus, Scopia can detect whether a user has a large HD screen or a small smartphone display, and send only the amount of data needed. This results in significant bandwidth savings, which reduces network impact and is one reason Scopia offers the lowest TCO of any video solution with similar capabilities. Bridge to Legacy Systems. Scopia can interoperate with legacy video systems like video room systems from other vendors. That means Scopia can be used to connect together previously isolated video room systems into a single, company-‐wide solution. Continuous Presence, Recording and More. Scopia users are assigned a Scopia video conferencing “room” with a unique access number. As many as 28 participants can be continuously visible on screen at one time. The current speaker is automatically highlighted. The meeting host can also record the session for future use or compliance purposes. Any participant can share documents and individuals can privately review previous slides without interrupting the speaker. AAC7 Video Unified Communications. High Scale. Integrated Collaboration Tools. Avaya Aura Conferencing 7 provides an unmatched unified communications experience allowing employees to escalate from chat to audio conference to videoconference in the moment. Video is integrated with powerful capabilities like presence and directory access, making it ideal for day-‐to-‐day workplace collaboration. Low Bandwidth. High Scale. AAC7 uses a technology called Software Media Switching rather than an MCU to provide video collaboration. This approach allows for very high scale—as many as 7500 simultaneous conferences! It does not offer connectivity with users outside the corporate network, but it is an ideal solution for empowering dispersed coworkers to connect and collaborate as easily as if they shared the same location. Powerful Collaboration. AAC7 makes it easy for employees to get face-‐to-‐face when and where needed to solve problems without making huge demands on the network infrastructure. Because AAC7 is part of Avaya’s unified communications solution, video calls are fully integrated into the corporate communication tools people use every day. An IM session can escalate to a phone call and then to a video call with one-‐click simplicity. When a problem arises that requires immediate resolution, AAC7 users can use the presence feature to easily determine who is available and then click names in the directory to bring the right people into a collaborative video meeting in seconds. Video Presentations. AAC7 is ideal for delivering video presentations to in-‐house audiences. From easy, integrated scheduling, to one-‐click user access, AAC7 makes it easy to schedule and run video presentations for large groups. Users can ask questions share and annotate documents at the discretion of the moderator. The Moderator can monitor and control participation. Users can record and save meeting notes for future reference. Web and Audio Conferencing. AAC7 also includes web and audio conferencing providing users with a broad range of powerful communication tools at their fingertips. When video is needed, users can quickly escalate to a video collaboration session. Selecting the best video collaboration tools for every user. Use Scopia AAC7 Collaborates internally with other employees X X Frequently requires fast, ad hoc (rather than pre-‐
planned) access to video collaboration with co-‐
workers. X Support for mobile devices X X Needs to integrate video with existing applications like MS Lync and SalesForce X X Collaborates by video with customers and partners outside the corporate firewall X (Coming Spring 2013) Joins conferences that includes participants in a video room system X Requires HD-‐quality video X in participant and document channels: E.g. Shared video or diagnostic images. Conducts presentations for large groups of employees with minimal audience participation. X Uses a corporate video room system or X telepresence system or participates in conferences that leverage such systems. Needs audio and web conferencing tools in addition to video X Requires a rich, interactive video solution with HD quality and continuous presence of up to 28 participants. (Examples: Interactive training course. Job candidate interview.) X One User: Two solutions. In many cases, the same employee benefits from the ability to switch between Scopia and AAC7 for different purposes. For example: An enterprise might choose to deploy both AAC7 and Scopia for contact center workers. AAC7 enables faster internal problem resolutions. If a contact center agent or manager encounters an issue that requires immediate resolution, AAC7 makes it easy to quickly locate and engage the right people to come together and solve the problem. However, if a customer calls in with an issue that requires video assistance, Scopia is right option. An agent can send the customer an e-‐mail with a link to join an interactive video conference from any video-‐enabled device, including a smartphone or tablet. The document-‐sharing features combined with the video experience can dramatically speed up resolution, improving customer satisfaction and decreasing the total support costs.
