Technical Services
The Austin Convention Center is a gigabit-rated building and ranks among the most technologically advanced convention centers in the country. When the facility doubled its size, the Austin Convention Center upped the ante in the
technical convention industry by installing a communication infrastructure capable of moving voice, video, and data at
over 1 billion bits a second.
Gigabit-rated building
• Telecommunication services on every fixed wall and/or floor pocket every 30 feet
• Wireless Network 802.11a/b/g/n
• Over 2,500 CAT 6 Copper UTP ports
• Over 850 Multi-mode F/O ports
• Single-mode F/O ports in select areas
• Telecommunication conferencing capabilities in all areas
Internet Access
• Multiple high-speed, 100+ mb/sec Internet access connections, running on a Cisco powered gigabit Ethernet
infrastructure
• Limited complimentary Wireless Internet Access throughout entire facility
• 1,280 registered Internet addresses (5 Class C)
• 131,072 NATed Internet addresses with ability to scale
• Redundant DHCP and DNS servers
• Panduit/CommScope teamed up on the horizontal communication infrastructure which consists of 2,517 CAT 6 UTP
ports, and 1,164 multi-mode fiber optic ports
• Panduit/CommScope vertical communication infrastructure (backbone) consists of CAT 3 UTP, 96-mode fiber optic
and 24 single-mode fiber optic ports

• In-house network engineer on staff to assist with networking design needs
• In-house network administrators on staff to assist with networking needs during events
• PC leasing available from preferred AV company (www.avwtelav.com)

• Convention Center provides a variety of in-house voice services
