Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy launches new e-commerce site giving customers convenient online
access to its unique selection of health and beauty products, and free and secure consultations with
Pharmaca’s practitioner staff
Boulder, Colo., Jan. 14, 2010 – Answering the demand of Americans interested in taking charge of their
own health, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, the nation’s first integrative pharmacy chain, today
announced the launch a new Web and e-commerce site dedicated to creating online wellness, shopping,
and educational experiences. The new site, www.pharmaca.com, provides a resource for people who want
to explore trusted options that are not typically offered by mainstream medicine, such as child-safe
homeopathic cold remedies or herbal solutions for menopause. Pharmaca’s new online platform not only
makes complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) more accessible to the public, it also seeks to
educate consumers with published health content and interactive forums.
Taking An Integrative Approach to Health, Wellness & Medicine Online
Pharmaca was founded in 2000 in Boulder, Colo. as a new type of pharmacy model dedicated to treating
the whole person with the best methods available. Following the traditional European-style pharmacy
model, Pharmaca became the first U.S. pharmacy chain to combine a traditional pharmacy with natural
health solutions.
The growing demand for integrative health tools led Pharmaca to develop an e-commerce site giving
consumers nationwide access to their trusted selection of products. The site is an extension of the
company’s in-store customer service and retail model focused on helping consumers take charge of their
own wellness, which recognizes the strengths of both traditional medicine and CAM.
“Pharmaca’s integrative approach to health and wellbeing is in line with shifting trends in health care and
self care, many of which have gained momentum recently in conjunction with ongoing healthcare reform
debates,” said Barry Perzow, Pharmaca’s founder. “Our new e-commerce site provides consumers with
the opportunity to take a proactive role in maintaining their health and wellness.”
Diverse Traditional and CAM Product Offerings
The launch of the new site marks the first-time that consumers will have national access to Pharmaca’s
unique mix of traditional and CAM products. Currently, the site offers approximately 3,100 products,
with that number expected to reach more than 5,000 by mid-2010. Specifically, consumers can shop for
products in the following categories:
• Natural and organic vitamins, supplements and herbs
• Over-the-counter medications
• Natural and organic personal care products
• Natural and organic cosmetics and facial care
• Oral care
• Natural first aid
• Natural and organic kids & baby products
• Eco-home
• Pharmaca brand products

Additionally, Pharmaca.com is one of the only sites featuring a variety of hard-to-find brands, such as
Wish Garden, a unique brand of herbal supplements, and Sanitas Skincare, a line of biogenic, parabenfree and preservative-free beauty and self-care products.
“For the first time ever, consumers across the U.S. now have access to the mix of products our consumers
have come to depend on for all of their preventative and treatment care needs,” said Laura Coblentz, vice
president of marketing and innovation at Pharmaca.
Beyond Basic Customer Care and Service
Pharmaca is set apart from other pharmacies not only by its integrative approach and product offerings,
but also by its unique approach to customer service and interaction. The online experience is no different.
Focused on patient advocacy, Pharmaca.com offers customers experts to guide them, licensed
practitioners to recommend product options, and pharmacists who can advise on alternatives while
lending credibility and the rigors of science to wellness.
Specifically, visitors to Pharmaca.com will have access to the following customer service and interactive
components, making the site a resource for those looking for informative, educational and credible health
and wellness information:
• Ask a Practitioner. Consumers with health questions or looking to learn more about a particular
condition or treatment option will find this function helpful. The process is simple. Consumers
can submit their question(s), and will receive a response from a licensed Pharmaca practitioner
within two business days. Pharmaca’s practitioner staff consists of certified caregivers such as
naturopathic doctors, homeopathic doctors, nutritionists, herbalists and estheticians. Currently,
Pharmaca is the only online pharmacy to offer this service to consumers.
• Ask a Pharmacist. Similar to ask a practitioner, this site component allows consumers to send
their medication and CAM treatment questions directly to a licensed, Pharmaca pharmacist who
will provide a response within two business days.
• Wellness Resource Center. This area of the site provides educational materials and articles for
consumers on a variety of topics, ranging from drug interactions to seasonal recipes.
