Centriq Clinicals
The right EHR for your patients, clinicians, and your goal to
achieve Meaningful Use
SOLUTIONS DESIGNED TO FIT
Our clients do more than save lives.
They’re helping their communities
to thrive. So instead of offering
hand-me-down information systems
that are ten sizes too big, we provide
solutions designed specifically for
(and with input from) rural and
critical access hospitals.
Solutions that enhance patient
safety and increase efficiencies while
improving employee satisfaction
and user adoption. Healthland
solutions let rural hospitals focus
on what they do best: providing
quality healthcare to neighbors,
family, and friends—their patients.
Solution snapshot
Selecting the right electronic health record (EHR) for your hospital
is an important decision, one that ultimately impacts the care you
provide to your patients as well as your bottom line. The right EHR
must be easy for clinicians to learn and use, provide valuable tools
and data to help them deliver safe and informed care, and align
with your hospital’s workflow.
Healthland Centriq® features a simple, intuitive user interface that’s easy
for clinicians to use, ensuring user adoption—and that translates into
increased patient and clinician satisfaction. Patient data feeds into the
Centriq EHR and integrates with other care areas—Long-Term Care,
Home Health, and Clinic—providing users with a complete view of
patient information, past and present, from all care areas. Designed by
rural clinicians for rural clinicians, this solution will help you achieve your
most important organizational goals:
• Consistent delivery of high-quality patient care, supported
by tools that help clinicians manage patient medications, avoid drug
interactions, practice evidence-based care and view patient progress
over time
• Improved patient experience and outcomes—speedy access
to comprehensive patient information and clinical decision
support tools allows clinicians to provide efficient, informed,
results-driven care
• Satisfied clinicians who find the system’s simple design is
easy to learn, easy to use, and improves productivity
• The functionality you need to demonstrate Meaningful Use
and qualify for ARRA incentive payments

Search for medications using the generic name, brand name, item number, or description—or by facility-defined order sets,
evidence-based order sets or groups of orders.
Putting it into perspective
In a very short time, virtually every U.S. hospital,
large and small, will be using an EHR. The question
is, will your hospital be using the right EHR
solution? Not only must it provide the functionality
that enables best practices in clinical processes
and patient care, but it has to position your
hospital to demonstrate Meaningful Use. With
ONC-ATCB® 2011/2012 certification as a complete
EHR, Centriq will equip your hospital to demonstrate Stage 1 Meaningful Use and qualify for
EHR incentive payments.
Putting it to work
Centriq features a number of applications that
will help you automate your hospital’s operations,
including:
Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE)
This application offers an integrated set of
ordering tools, to help clinicians place orders for
patients quickly and efficiently. Providers can create
their own order sets, use evidence-based order
sets, or create favorite orders for greater efficiency.
An intuitive layout presents patient allergy,
medication, and past order information to ensure
the right orders are placed every time. CPOE also
features more advanced medication ordering
features like dose range orders, sliding scale orders
and orders for future patient visits.
Clinical Documentation
Easy to learn and navigate, Clinical Documentation
requires little training and helps ensure patient
charts are complete and accurate. Clinicians can
carry out comprehensive patient charting,
including vitals, intake/output, patient notes,
surgery and medications. Clinical Documentation is
integrated with Care Plans to help clinicians manage
and provide consistent, proven patient care. And
because it’s part of the Centriq EHR, all
documented patient information is immediately
available to all care providers throughout the
organization.
Electronic Medication Administration
Record (eMAR) and Bar Coded Medication
Administration (BCMA)
Medication errors pose an all-too-common
threat to patient safety. eMAR minimizes the risk
of adverse drug events by presenting clinicians
with an easy-to-read, chronological view of each
patient’s medications. This helps clinicians properly
administer them on time, and provides alerts
whenever a potential interaction arises. And with
Personalized user experience lets nurses organize their shift in a way that’s most intuitive —by assigned patients, or hour-by-hour.
Bar Coded Medication Administration integrated
directly into eMAR, clinicians can take advantage of
complete closed-loop medication management
with Centriq.
in both a film-based and film-less environment.
Numerous productivity tools and reports
help improve efficiency and support enhanced
communication amongst caregivers.
Pharmacy
This application helps your pharmacy manage
all aspects of medication verification and
dispensing, including order coordination,
interaction checking, administration, and
charging. Because Pharmacy is a part of the
Centriq EHR, pharmacy orders are immediately
available in the eMAR, the pharmacy profile,
and the patient record.
Laboratory
Because a patient’s plan of care often depends on
laboratory results, Laboratory helps practitioners
to focus on test results and patient care by
automating many routine tasks, including lab
order processing and tracking. All results, whether
from individual or group tests, automatically
become part of the patient record. Laboratory also
provides automated quality control tools to help
ensure the accurate reading of results.
Clinician and Provider Work Centers
A personalized user experience helps clinicians
better manage their day. From this “dashboard,”
users are able to see just the patients they are
currently caring for, making it easier to focus on
what requires their attention and helping them
provide timely, informed care. From these portals,
physicians can manage lab results, unsigned orders,
unsigned transcriptions, and abnormal vital signs—
and nurses can manage patient tasks and care plan
interventions in the order they must be performed.
Diagnositc Imaging
Aligned to the workflows of both radiologists
and technologists, Diagnostic Imaging offers
benefits such as automated charging, radiology
ordering processing, and managing and tracking
images. It allows radiologists to work effectively
Emergency Department
Emergency Department was built to accommodate
the unique and often chaotic workflow of the ED.
It offers tools to help clinicians quickly register
patients, place orders, and document care to
ensure that the focus remains on patient care.
Emergency Department offers medication
interaction alerts, and it checks for open orders
at disposition to help support care decisions by
busy clinicians. Charge capture is driven by the
documentation of care to ensure this important
step is not omitted. Emergency Department
features a design that is consistent with the rest
of the Centriq Hospital solution and familiar to
clinicians who work in the hospital, increasing
adoption.
“Centriq is easy to use, easy to
navigate, and is intuitive. Of course,
Meaningful Use is at the top of many
discussions right now; we are very
pleased that Centriq is certified
for Meaningful Use, and that the
Healthland team will assist us in
our attainment of those goals.”
Sharon Wellendorf
Chief Nursing Officer - Horn Memorial Hospital
“Centriq has enabled us to use simple
devices like iPads and netbooks
instead of having a device like a
laptop or desktop that you have to
wheel into the room. Now we can use
a portable device to do our charting.”
“I think the reason that Centriq is right
for us, or for any rural hospital, is that
it’s cost effective, easy to use, and
very well supported.”
Craig Wells
Director of IT- Grape Community Hospital
“The concept of getting clients involved
in solution development and having
the opportunity to provide input is
fantastic, and has made the product
as user-friendly as it can be.”
“When our physicians at Mitchell were
presented with Centriq, they wanted it
immediately. That was the point when
we really decided to move forward.”
Robbie Dewberry
CEO - Mitchell County Hospital
Transcription
Integrated directly into the rural hospital workflow, Transcription provides
seamless communication between the provider and the transcriptionist.
Transcriptionists benefit from standardized templates and quick keys that
reduce the amount of time spent transcribing. Transcription managers are able
to track the efficiencies of their staff by viewing productivity reports, including
the tracking of non-productive key strokes. Physicians are alerted when unsigned
transcriptions are available, and can quickly approve or edit the transcription report.
Patient Education
Powered by ExitCare, an industry leader in peer-reviewed education
for patients, Patient Education gives clinicians access to thousands of
educational documents that can help patients care for themselves after
discharge. Patient Education can be accessed directly from Centriq Clinical
Documentation, and generates educational documents based on the
patient’s diagnosis.
Care Plans
Using Care Plans, clinical leadership teams can create detailed plans of
care for patients based on standard diagnoses by leveraging the
information from three standard nursing language databases –
NANDA (North American Nursing Diagnosis Association), NIC (Nursing
Interventions Classification) and NOC (Nursing Outcomes Classification).
Care Plans can help your clinicians provide the correct care with
consistency, which will improve communications within the
department, create data that can be used to determine ways to improve
care, and ultimately improve patient outcomes at the hospital.
Evidence-Based Order Sets
Healthland has partnered with Wolters Kluwer Health to offer EvidenceBased Order Sets, a collection of 39 order sets that reflect the most
recent medical evidence available. These evidence-based order sets
are integrated directly into Centriq CPOE and will offer clinicians the
opportunity to deliver care that reflects the best medical evidence
available in the world.
Clin-eguide
One of the most comprehensive sets of evidence-based clinical information
available anywhere, Clin-eguide is offered in partnership with
Wolters Kluwer Health and can be accessed directly through links within the
Centriq EHR.
ePrescribing
Powered by Rcopia™ from DrFirst, ePrescribing allows providers who use
Centriq to prescribe medications electronically, which increases clinical
efficiency and improves the overall quality of patient care. Healthland also
offers two additional options: Medication History and Controlled Substances—
which allows providers to download patient medication history into Centriq
and prescribe controlled substances (in certain states) respectively. Centriq
ePrescribing is accessible from numerous points in Centriq Hospital and
Emergency Department—no additional authentication is required.

is because it allows us a lot of
flexibility and aligns to rural
healthcare workflows very well.”
