Why Should I Study the Arts?
An associate’s degree in the Arts provides a solid
foundation to prepare you for many majors in a
four-year college and a wide variety of career
choices. AA and AS degrees are particularly
designed for those who wish to transfer. Those
who wish to enter the workforce immediately
should consider earning the AAS degree in
Graphic Design and Computer Graphics.
The study of art prepares students for a wide
variety of careers that produce the images and
objects that infuse our daily lives. The wide range
of hands-on art and art history courses provide a
foundation for further study at the baccalaureate
level in preparation for work in museums,
colleges, architecture, law, business, and
commercial art.
The Communication Arts degree offers handson experience in audio, video and digital
multimedia. Second-year students are
encouraged to write, produce, direct, and edit
video, audio and multi-media projects.
At RCC-TV, students work together in the
state-of-the art Multi-Media Production Center
in production teams to create the content for
news, entertainment and sports segments.
The Performing Arts degree can give you the
skills you need to succeed in theater—especially
since New York is at your doorstep. Students who
enroll in the program can choose a discipline in
music, dance, theater or musical theater. The
program provides students with the opportunity
to work alongside performing arts professionals
including designers, composers, actors, directors
and choreographers.
Employers place strong communication skills
very high in the list of qualities they seek in job
applicants. The Speech/Communication Studies
program builds a strong foundation in
communication skills – how to be a better
listener, how to effectively present your views in
an interview or small group, and how to be a
confident public speaker.

universities throughout the US.
RCC will help you in the transfer
process. Transfer agreements
between RCC and many
four-year colleges enable you to enter as a junior.
Transfer counselors are available to help you select the best fouryear college for you and to ensure that you have the appropriate
courses and qualifications.

on Transfer Days and College Night, when hundreds of
representatives of colleges and
universities visit RCC to share
information about their schools.
