Pianist Bob Alberti spent most of his life in the Hollywood studios as musical
director for NBC and ABC television shows. With his first love being jazz, he
resumed his playing career shortly after moving to Hilton Head in 1993. In the
past ten years, he has performed with such jazz luminaries Buddy DeFranco,
Harry Allen, Scott Hamilton, AI Caiola, Carl Fontana and Bucky Pizzarelli to name
only a few.
Bob has also been actively producing CDs for a number of vocal artists as well as
his own groups. He's currently active appearing at the Savannah Westin Resort
and the Jazz Corner on Hilton Head Island.
Bob's background spans fifty years of musical activity in both New York and Los
Angeles where he was alternate pianist on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show. He was
musical director of The Bob Hope Show from 1970 until 1993, when he chose to
semi-retire to Hilton Head Island. He was twice nominated for an Emmy award for
best musical direction and best original composition for a television show.
Bob's latest endeavor is a book, "UP THE LADDER AND OVER THE TOP: Memoirs
of a Hollywood Studio Musician," that covers nearly every venture in his long and
illustrious career in the world of music. He currently prides himself in his
versatility, whether it involves accompanying a vocalist or an instrumentalist, or
even acting as Pops conductor for events with the Hilton Head orchestra.
