Composer, guitarist, conductor and teacher, Carlos Carmona was born in 1960 it
Buenos Aires (Argentina).
His first musical studies began on his own. Then he studied Classical Guitar with
Alicia Venere and Lucio Nuñez, and subsequently studied also Composition with
Rodolfo Daluisio and Argentinean Music with Hilda Herrera.
He studied also interpretation technique with Victor Villadangos; Orchestral and
Choral Conducting with Sergio Feferovich, Saúl Zaks and Jorge Fontenla, being
selected to lead the Symphony Orchestra of Avellaneda (2007 - 2008) and Lanús
Chamber Orchestra (2008).
He has a degree in Music Technology, and also in Electroacustic Composition,
graduated from the National University of Quilmes.
In Argentina, two works for guitar and orchestra of his own have been released:
Yupanquiana, a liturgical Suite for guitar, voice and orchestra, was premiered in
2002 on the tenth anniversary of the death of Atahualpa Yupanqui, with Sergio
Moldavsky as soloist and the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Buenos Aires, under the
direction of Alejandro Beraldi, in the main auditorium from Radio Nacional Argentina,
being broadcast live across the country and also through the chain of External
Broadcasting.
The Yupanqui’s texts included in this work were given to the author by Roberto
Chavero, son of the honored artist. Later the work was played in the Golden Hall of
the Teatro Colón and in November 2008 a revised version was offered by the
Camerata FM 100.3 "Amadeus Musical Culture", conducted by Alfredo Corral.
This is the version and other works by Argentinean composers will be presented in a
Masterclass and a concert at the Royal Academy of Music (Det jyske
Musikkonservatorium) on May 12th. 2011.
In 2007 Avellaneda Symphony Orchestra also premiered his Concert Variations titled
“Two pigeons” (“Dos palomitas”), written for guitar and orchestra, at the Teatro
Roma, with Victor Villadangos as soloist, and with the direction of the composer.
Since 2005 Carlos Carmona organizes concerts in Buenos Aires City Legislature . His
most important cycle - Argentinean Classical Music - is now in its third annual
season, with the aim of spreading the music of local authors and performers
interpretations of the country, through weekly presentations. With the same purpose
he founded, as director, the South Camerata of Teachers in 2007, with which he
played the suite "Del Altplano a la Pampa" Carlos Di Fulvio, who was there at the
perfomer, and the "Suite en siete" by Alejandro Kordon, among other works.
