BIOGRAPHY
BBC Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician 2014, Robyn Stapleton, is fast
becoming one of the UK’s leading folk singers. Over the past year alone,
Robyn has performed with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra, shared the
stage with Katherine Jenkins, and supported Capercaillie live on BBC
television as part of the Commonwealth Games.
Now one of Scotland's most sought after singers, Robyn has been invited to
perform with Scots singer Emily Smith, the Royal Scottish National
Orchestra and on legendary radio program, Desert Island Disks. A nominee
for Scots Singer of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards 2014, and an
Ambassador for the Scots Language, Robyn has had an incredible year of
awards and high-profile performances.
Her debut album, ‘Fickle Fortune’, which was released in June this year, has

Robyn’s regularly performs with some of Scotland’s finest folk musician.
Her five piece band and trio include: Kristan Harvey, Ewan Baird, Alistair
Paterson, Aaron Jones and Mike Vass.
Orcadian fiddler, Kristan Harvey (Blazin’ Fiddles) won the title of BBC
Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year in 2011 and since
has performed around the concert halls of Britain and Europe. Her
performance highlights include playing with Rod Stewart’s string section, at
the Last Night of the Proms with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
and with Scottish violinist, Nicola Benedetti.
Ewan Baird is a renowned percussionist known for his innovative
approach to the bodhran and cajon. A founding member of the Paul
McKenna Band, Ewan has toured extensively internationally, and recent
highlights include performing on US TV series, Outlander.
Pianist Alistair Paterson is a highly respected accompanist who regularly
performs with fiddler Patsy Reid and is a founding member of Scottish folk
band, Barluath. He has performed with Scotland and Ireland’s finest
musicians; most recently, Julie Fowlis and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh on
BBC television.
Winner of the prestigious ‘Composer of the Year’ award at the Scots Trad
Music Awards 2012, Mike Vass is fast gaining a reputation as one of
Scotland’s foremost tunesmiths and is regarded as one of Scotland’s finest
guitar and fiddle players. He has toured extensively with leading Scots Song
band Malinky and with international super group Fiddle Rendezvous,
featuring Bruce Molsky, Maryann Kennedy and Gerry O’Connor.
Aaron Jones has worked with some of the biggest names in folk music and has recorded
on over 70 albums. Aaron is a very fine accompanist and singer; he is member of the Old
Blind Dogs and accompanist to Siobhan Miller and Kate Rusby.
Robyn and the band look forward to recording a second album in 2016,
tours in Denmark and Germany next year, and performances at leading
music festivals including Celtic Connections and Festival Interceltique
Lorient.
