Chris and his wife Nancy have two sons, Nathan is a senior at Grand Valley State University (3
miles from our home) in computer science – He is also an outstanding sax man and did TV and
promo work last summer with Chevy as part of this area “Chevy Riders” and currently does some
modeling. Geoffrey is a freshman a Western Michigan University as a music major in both
trumpet and voice. Nancy works at Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids; in an HR capacity
as a med tech and working with the labs, patients and doctors.
In Jan. of 2006 I left my church ministry job (Fair Haven Ministries in Hudsonville Mi.). I was
the pastor of arts and worship for 13 years. I began a new ministry in Jan. of 2006 called "Hark
Up Music" www.harkupmusic.org that presented over 70 programs in 2010. This is a 501©3 nonprofit organization made up of an all volunteer leadership team. We are a community of about
350 people and have about 8 bands, a community choir, drama team and help supply musicians to
local churches and events. We are housed in a 3500 Sqft. downtown loft that serves as an office
and rehearsal suite. It is an intergenerational and multi ethnic ministry. The big project each year
is a two hour community Christmas outreach event called Hark Up! www.harkup.com The show
involves over 350 people from the area in a cutting edge contemporary Christian music, drama,

Personally, I work as a music composer, arranger (formerly with praisecharts (from 2000-2005)
and producer; doing a variety of projects. My company is Hansencharts and can be checked out at
www.hansencharts.com Most of the work I do is creating various music arrangements
orchestrations for projects and programs around the country. Our gospel Dixieland band (The
Down Home Horns http://www.harkupministries.org/productions/pages/DownHomeHorns.html)

In addition to my work at Fair Haven Ministries (1994-Jan. of 2007) I also worked from 19952002 at Calvary Church as their Saturday Night Service Music Director. I worked along side Rob
Bell (Who now pastors Mars Hill Church here in West Michigan and is a prolic author of many
books including Velvet Elvis and Sex God—and world wide speaker), I also worked closely with
Ed Dobson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Dobson ), Marvin Williams, and Phil Brower (who
current is the Producer of the Gaither HomeComing Radio show). Recently (Oct. of 2010) Hark
Up began a releationship with Community Reformed Church in Zeeland Michigan. I am serving
as the music coordinator of their DayBreak Church Service. Here we bring in music, musicians
and provide worship leadership for this service, a great opportunity to give Hark Up’s younger
musicians experience and try new music options.
