Christopher Rymes
Trumpet Instructor
Christopher Rymes earned his Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music in 2012 and is
currently working as a professional lead trumpet player and private instructor in the greater
Boston area. Chris can be seen performing with Boston area show band Groove Alliance,
Introduction – The Chicago Experience (Chicago tribute act), Quintessential Brass, and
Veronica Robles & Her Mariachi.
As a freelance artist Chris has played in pit orchestras for musicals at several theaters
throughout New England. He has also worked as a theater trumpet player for Royal Caribbean
Cruise Line. Chris has performed with Blood, Sweat and Tears and the Glenn Miller Orchestra
and has performed on stage with world-renowned artists such as Maria Schneider, Peter
Erskin, Lewis Nash, Steve Smith, John Fedchock, Clay Jenkins and Eguie Castrillo. He enjoys
working on studio projects as well, where he has recorded on several albums ranging in style
from big band, jazz, fusion, pop, rock and mariachi.
Chris has had the privilege of studying with respected musicians such as Frank Greene, Lin
Biviano, Dave Sheetz, Scott Mullett, Jay Daly, Tiger Okoshi, Ken Cervenka, Jeff Stout, Charlie
Lewis and Phil Wilson. Chris teaches privately in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Jenn Allen
Brass Instructor
In 2012, Jenn received a dual Bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition and Trumpet Performance
from Berklee College of Music, where she received instruction from Tiger Okoshi, Phil Wilson,
Christine Fawson, Greg Hopkins, and Ken Pullig. Jenn completed her graduate studies at the
New England Conservatory May of 2014, receiving a Master's of Music Degree in Jazz
Composition. During her time at NEC, she studied privately with Ken Schaphorst, Laurie Frink,
and Mal Barsamian. While at NEC Jenn was selected for a paid teaching fellowship through the
Community Performance Partnerships program.
Jenn has had the honor of sharing the stage with artists like Paula Cole, Ben E. King, Kendrick
Scott, Julian Lage, Anat Cohen, Lew Soloff, Lalah Hathaway, Mulatu Astatke, Pepe de Lucia,
Simon Shaheen, Javier Limon, and others. Jenn is musically affiliated with the New England
Conservatory Jazz Composer's Workshop Orchestra, the NEC Middle Eastern Ensemble, The
Omar Thomas Large Ensemble, the Agbekor Society & Mile Norvisi Chorus, Beantown,
Luminarium Dance Company, the Veronica Robles Mariachi Ensemble, and more.
Jenn's arrangements and compositions have been performed by the Metropole Orchestra,
Vince Mendoza, Gregory Porter, Giovanca Ostiana, Luminarium Dance Company, the NEC Jazz
Composer's Workshop Orchestra, the Berklee Rainbow Band, and more.
Jenn is a passionate educator, with experience teaching brass, music theory, and improvisation
to pupils of all ages and abilities. She currently teaches private lessons for both the Dedham
and Hudson public school districts, as well as teaching private lessons and master classes
throughout the Greater Boston area.
