NITIN SHANKAR
Mr. Nitin Shankar was born in a musical family both mother and father
were in the music field and had their own music banner by the name of
Musical Melodies.
Both his parents were performing artists. He has been in this field since
his childhood and has been actively working and been a professional
from the age of sixteen. He started his struggle in 1978.
He is a percussionist and can play both the Classical Indian as well as the
Latin, Cuban and Afro and Indian folk percussions.
He is a disciple of the Late Ustad Allahrakha as well as late Marutirao
Keer (rhythm arranger for R.D Burman).
He is a percussionist, rhythm arranger, rhythm programmer, music
composer as well as a music director and he is working in the Indian
Music industry since the last more than 36 years and counting.

He has worked with leading music directors like R.D.Burman (1942
A Love Story, Gardish, Drohi, Gurudev, Ghatak, Indrajeet,
Preme Pode Jaye etc ). With Jatin-Lalit as a rhythm arranger ( Jo
Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, Khiladi, Kabhie
Haan Kabhie Na, Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge etc),
With Anu Malik ( Chamatkar, Baazigar, Fiza, Refugee, Akele Hum
Akele Tum, Kareeb,Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Phool Aur Angaar,
Josh, Duplicate, Border, Lajja etc),with Ismail Darbar (Hum Dil De
Chuke Sanam, Devdas),with Monty Sharma (Black) and for Devdas,
Saawariya, Khamoshi, Bajirao Mastani with Sanjay Leela Bhansali
and other major projects are rhythm arrangement and percussion
for the music of the historical film Veer Zaara (Yash Raj Films) the
songs of which were the compositions of Late Madan Mohanji.
Nitin Shankar has also worked with the music director duo Sajid
Wajid (for rhythm arrangement of songs from movies like Partner,
Veer, Wanted, Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore, EkTha Tiger,
Chasme Badoor, Heropanti, Daawat-e-Ishq, Partner, Himmatwala,
Welcome, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garv, Singh is Bling and more)

He has performed over the world with renowned percussionist and
composer Trilok Gurtu. He has performed with Trilok ji at the
International WOMAD Festival in Sri Lanka and Korea, in
Australia, at the LILLE Festival (FRANCE).
He has also performed at the WOMAD Adelaide with Kronos
Quartet and Asha Bhosle.
Also at Cartagena (Spain) and FMM, SINNES (Portugal) with Asha
Bhosle, he has also performed with the Dutch Metropol Orkestra for
more than 4 live concerts in Amsterdam and Paris.
Nitin Shankar has been working as the Musical Director for the live
concerts of legendary artist Asha Bhosle since the last 10 years
