
Chopin is not a Polish surname, and his first one is often


Wasn’t he French? No. Chopin was Polish.
F.Chopin was born in 1810 in Warsaw.
The Father Mikołaj was Frenchman by
birth, but Pole through his choice of
homeland, where He remained to the

His mother named Tekla Justyna
Krzyżanowska was a relative of Polish
Countess Ludwika Skarbkowa, owner of
the Zelazowa Wola.
His first professor was Wojciech Żywny next was
Józef Elsner.
Chopin published his first composition at the age 7.
In 19830 Chopin emigrated to Paris. In 1936 he met

The Portrait of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand
was an 1838 unfinished oil-on-canvas painting by
French artist Eugène Delacroix. Originally a double
portrait, it was later cut in two and sold off as
separate pieces. It showed composer Frédéric Chopin
(1810–49) playing piano while writer George Sand
(1804–76) sits to his right, listening and sewing (a
favorite activity of hers) Today Chopin's portrait is
housed at the Louvre in Paris, while Sand's hangs at
Copenhagen's Ordrupgaard Museum.
The composer suffered from bronchial asthma
and tuberculosis.
Because of that he spent the winter 1938-39
together with George Sand on Majorca, living in an
abandoned Carthusian monastery in Valldemossa
The composer died
in 1849 in Paris.

In truth, there has never been any doubt about Chopin’s
nationality.
One only has to hear his music
 with traditional dances
 underpinning all those mazurkas
 and dark, dramatic polonaises
to appreciate that he had an innate feel for the spirit of
Poland.
His letters show that he and his family conversed in
Polish at a high intellectual level.
All of Chopin's compositions include the piano; most are for solo
piano.
He also wrote two piano concertos, a few chamber pieces, and
some songs to Polish lyrics.
His keyboard style, which is highly individual, is often technically
demanding.
His own performances were noted for their nuance and
sensitivity.
Chopin invented the concept of instrumental ballade
His major piano works also include
 sonatas
 mazurkas
 waltzes
 nocturnes
 polonaises
 études
 impromptus
 scherzos
 preludes
some published only after his death
Many contain elements of both Polish folk music and of
the classical tradition of J.S. Bach, Mozart and
Schubert, whom he particularly admired.
His innovations in style, musical form, and harmony, and
his association of music with nationalism, were influential
throughout and after the late Romantic period.
Chopin is one of music's earliest SUPERSTARS
His early death have made him a leading symbol
of the Romantic era.
His works remain popular, and he has been the subject of
numerous films and biographies of varying degrees of
historical accuracy.
