Frederic Chopin Biography Frederic Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuosos pianist of the Romantic era. He was born on 22nd February or 1st March 1810 in Żelazowa Wola and died on 17th October 1849 in Paris. The feature of the works of Chopin was capitalised on the stylistic patterns of Polish folk music. Chopin composed 9 Polonaises, 57 Mazurkas, 21 Nocturnes, 4 Scherzo, 4 Ballads, 2 Etudes, 24 Preludes, 3 Sonatas, 2 Concerts and a dozen songs for voice and piano.
