Description: Soprano saxophonist of the prestigious PRISM Saxophone Quartet and
internationally-acclaimed soloist, Timothy McAllister is one of todayʼs premier concert
saxophone performers and teachers. McAllister became Associate Professor of Saxophone at
the Herberger Institute School of Music at Arizona State University in Fall 2008. He holds the
Doctor of Musical Arts and other degrees in music education, conducting and performance from
The University of Michigan where he studied with Donald Sinta and Robert Reynolds. He is the
only saxophonist to ever receive the University of Michigan School of Musicʼs most
distinguished performance award—the Albert A. Stanley Medal!

Description: At the age of 28, Otis Murphy joined the faculty of the Indiana University Jacobs
School of Music, becoming one of the youngest faculty members in its history, and where he is
currently Associate Professor of Music. Murphy holds a Doctor of Music and Master of Music
degrees from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, graduating with the Performerʼs
Certificate, the highest honor given to a performer at this institution; and the Bachelor of Music
Education degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Georgia. Murphy has
received numerous awards and prizes, including Second Prize in the Adolphe Sax International
Saxophone Competition in Belgium in 1998; Third Prize in the Jean-Marie Londeix International
Saxophone Competition in France in 1996; First Prize in the Heida Hermanns Young Artist
Competition; and Second Prize in the Saint Louis Symphony Young Artist Competition. A
recipient of the Fulbright grant, Murphy spent the 1999-2000 academic year in Paris studying
with the internationally acclaimed French saxophonist, Jean-Yves Fourmeau! Otis he is a
Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician.

Description: Born in 1932 into a family of musicians, Londeix began studying piano and
saxophone at a very young age. When he was 14 he won a First Prize in saxophone from the
Bordeaux Conservatory where he took classes and continued his studies at the Paris
Conservatory where he studied saxophone with Marcel Mule. His long career includes acting
as Professor of Saxophone at the Bordeaux Conservatory and Dijon Conservatory, performing
in countless concerts and making definitive recordings of the saxophoneʼs finest literature.

SSG Blossom was the Gold Medal Winner at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition
and served as Adjunct Faculty at Wallace Community College Selma. He participated in the
Chamber Music Americas Rural Residency Program sponsored by the National Endowment for
the Arts. SSG Blossom earned a Masters of Music at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor
of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University.

saxophone class in the world. He is currently in charge of a collection at the Henri-LemoineParis publications, where he works for the publications of new repertoire and for the

International Saxophone Competition in Bangkok, Thailand. Noa currently holds a teaching

Description: Australian saxophonist, Amy Dickson, began saxophone lessons at the age of six
and made her concerto debut ten years later. Recognized widely for her remarkable tone and
musicality, she has performed throughout Europe, Africa and Australia, and has performed as a
soloist with many orchestras including the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna
Chamber Orchestra. At age 19, she moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music
with Kyle Horch, and the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp. During this time
she became the first saxophonist to win major competitions including the Gold Medal at the
Royal Overseas League Competition, the Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year
Competition, and the Princeʼs Prize. Amy Dickson is a recording artist for Sony Music.

Description: Andreas van Zoelen started his musical career in the early 1990s as guitarist for
rock bands. Afterwards, he studied conducting and saxophone at the Brabants Conservatorium
in the Netherlands. In the late 1990s he made his debut as a saxophone soloist with the
symphonic orchestra “Consortium Musicum Divertimento”, while touring through France. In
2000, he performed at the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, where he delivered a program of
pieces written for the bass saxophone! About 130 works where written for van Zoelen, a
pioneer of the bass saxophone. Apart from his studies of saxophone and conducting at the
Brabants Conservatorium, he studied with the famous Carina Raschèr, daughter of the pioneer
saxophonist Sigurd Raschèr. Van Zoelen is currently the Professor of saxophone at the Fontys
Conservatory or Tilburg in the Netherlands.

Description: Kaori Kobayashi is a Japanese jazz saxophonist and flautist who was born in Tokyo
in 1981. She began studying piano at a young age, joined a brass band in her early teens,
learned the flute, and finally developed a relationship with the saxophone. She studied jazz
saxophone with Bob Zangu and attended the Senzoku College of Music in Japan. After
graduating, she was contracted through Victor Entertainment, a Japanese company that
produces and distributes music, movies and other popular entertainment products such Anime,
Japanese animated cartoons. This is not a classical saxophone performance however this
popular video has had over four million hits!

Description: Kenneth Tse is a Chinese American classical saxophonist who was born in 1972.
He was mainly self-taught as a youth until he met world-renowned saxophone artist and
pedagogue Eugene Rousseau in 1989. He then studied at the Indiana University School of
Music with Rousseau from 1993–1998. Widely recognized as one of the leading classical
saxophonists and teacher, Tse is currently the Associate Professor of Saxophone at the
University of Iowa.

Description: Katherine (b. 1988) began her love for music while growing up in Sarasota, Florida.
She expressed to her father an interest for the saxophone and began on a dusty old instrument
he had sitting the garage. She began taking lessons at age 11 with Lisa Sloan and began to
show promising natural musical ability. Katherine further honed her talents while studying at
Interlochen Arts Camp during the summers of 2002-2004. She completed her undergraduate
degree in saxophone performance at University of Michigan where she studied with Donald
Sinta, is currently continuing her studies there as a masters student and ultimately plans to
pursue a doctorate in saxophone performance.
