Dan B. Tran, M.D. Laser Vision Correction and Intraocular Lens Specialist Dan B. Tran, M.D. is considered an excellent vision correction surgeon by his colleagues, and a caring and dedicated physician by his patients. He has been featured in several local and national media including the Los Angeles Times, KCBS, Ocular Surgery News and Ophthalmology Times. Dr. Tran specializes in surgical vision correction including; LASIK, IntraLase™ , Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA), Intacs™ , intraocular lenses including phakic lens implants such as ICL’s, cataract surgeries, and corneal transplant procedures with over 15,000 procedures performed. He is among the first five surgeons in the world to perform the all-laser, LASIK IntraLase procedure, and the first surgeon in the United States to pioneer the use of the IntraLase™ FS laser system in conjunction with the Intacs™ intracorneal ring segments for the treatment and management of keratoconus. He is among the first few surgeons in the United States to perform Verisyse™ and ICL phakic intraocular lens, Crystalens™ , ReSTOR® and ReZoom™ multifocal intraocular lens implants to reduce patient’s dependency on reading glasses. Commitment to excellence in vision correction surgery is reflected in every aspect of Dr.Tran’s practice. He has been a principal investigator for an FDA clinical trial on the phakic intraocular lens. He is also a consultant for laser system manufacturers and receives small business innovative research grants from the National Eye Institute. He also provides state-of-the-art surgical training for other ophthalmologists involved in laser vision correction surgery. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology at the prestigious Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Tran undertook an additional year of fellowship training in corneal and refractive surgery at the Shiley Eye Center, University of California, San Diego. He is currently the medical director of the TLC Eye Institute.
