President’s Invitation
It is my pleasure to invite you to join us for SECO 2008,
one of the largest optometry events in the world. Providing
best-of-class education since 1924, SECO International is
widely acknowledged as a leader in producing continuing
education for the entire optometric team. This year is no
exception.
Held in Atlanta, February 27 – March 2, 2008, SECO 2008
has assembled the best in the profession and the best in
the industry to challenge each attendee to raise the bar.
With the Summer Olympic Games around the corner, we at SECO felt it only
appropriate to develop an education program that inspires us to achieve new
heights. Our unique educational tracks and special sessions will challenge
each of us to push ourselves, just as an athlete would, to expand our skills and
exceed all expectations.
Optometrists and ancillary staff have a large selection of education from
which to choose, including education designed for the entire team. Once
again, we’ve placed great emphasis on providing the most comprehensive,
relevant courses geared to the optometric staff. After all, everyone benefits
from a staff that stays current on the latest advances and treatment options.
This extraordinary educational program is what makes SECO The Education
Destination™.
In addition to our CE programs for optometrists, allied ophthalmic
professionals and optometry students, you don’t want to miss Optometry’s
Marketplace™. This year’s expansion to 70,000 square feet makes it one of the
largest and most complete optometric exhibit halls in the country. Nearly 300
leading companies will demonstrate the latest in optometry. Whether you are
in the market for equipment or high-end frames, Optometry’s Marketplace™
will have what you need to keep your practice on the cutting edge.
SECO isn’t just about the business of optometry or even the continuing
education. It’s also about networking and socializing with friends and
colleagues – new and old. Our innovative events are unsurpassed. Don’t
miss the “Opening Ceremonies” reception, featuring Grecian fare, prizes
and entertainment. On Thursday night, the fur buses are back for the Atlantic
Station Triathlon and will shuttle people to the popular Atlantic Station area
where the Bad Habits will be playing in the Fox Sports Grill. And, finally, the
SECO “Closing Ceremonies Celebration” will be held at the NEW World of
Coca-Cola® featuring the legendary band America.
With so many opportunities, you’ll discover why SECO 2008 is the place
optometric professionals want to be. We hope that you will join us. Don’t wait
to make your plans. Take advantage of the lower rates available and early
registration incentives. Register online at www.seco2008.com.
We look forward to seeing you in Atlanta in February!
Sincerely,
Doug Clark, OD
President

It wouldn’t be SECO if there wasn’t an innovative theme to tie it
all together and make learning even more fun. This year’s program

professionally. With this theme, which precedes the 2008 Summer
Olympic Games, it is SECO’s hope to inspire participants to meet
the challenges of the optometric profession and achieve even greater
success. Much like an athlete who continually pushes the limits of their
skills, SECO’s educational program will allow optometry professionals
to do the same and optimize their skills to deliver even better patient care
and build successful practices.

OD Education Program Highlights
There’s no question – the SECO 2008 OD
Continuing Education Program raises the
bar. The best and brightest in optometry
have been assembled to deliver a worldclass program that will challenge each of
us to achieve a new level of success – both
personally and professionally.
Known as The Education Destination™,
SECO 2008 will be held in Atlanta
February 27 – March 2, 2008 and will host eye care
professionals from around the world. Those who come to SECO
come not only to learn the latest in the industry, but network and
share ideas with colleagues, and of course, have a little fun too.
Much of what you will see this year is not available anywhere
else in the country. There will be more opportunities than ever
before for optometrists to get the continuing education they
want and need. SECO will offer more than 150 hours and 97
total courses to ODs. Our lineup of special sessions, panels,
tracks and workshops will cover everything from “Cataract
Conundrums” and “Complicated Corneas” to the “It’s Geek to
Me” practice management track.
With the Summer Olympics being held in Beijing in 2008,
SECO was inspired to adopt this theme and name many of its
courses and educational tracks in its honor. You’ll enjoy taking
part in one of this year’s innovative Olympic-themed courses.
Among the many unique to SECO are: “High Hurdles: The
Most Challenging Resident Cases of the Year,” “Wrestling
with Vista,” “Nutrition for the Athlete and You,” “Go the
Distance with Anterior Segment,” and “Taking Uveitis to the
Mat.” SECO 2008 will provide a broad array of cleverly-titled
courses that really get to the heart of what you need to provide
the best patient care and build a successful practice.
In addition to an impressive OD Program, you’ll be equally
impressed with this year’s larger-than-ever Optometry’s
Marketplace™ where you’ll find the latest technology,
equipment and products. Our events, as usual, will be
unsurpassed in innovation and entertainment value.
I encourage you to register soon, as many will be clamoring
for the new courses and workshops. Register early to receive
discounted rates and use our easy online registration process
to ensure you are registered for the courses and activities you
want. And, with SECO’s many joint education courses, don’t
forget to bring your staff so that you can take a team approach
to continuing education and practice management.
On behalf of the entire CE Committee, I look forward to seeing
you in Atlanta! Let the games begin!
Sincerely,
The Education Destination™
SECO is more than an annual continuing education meeting. It’s The Education
Destination™ – where optometrists from around the world converge to learn the
latest in optometry. SECO 2008 will feature an extraordinary continuing education
program with more than 95 total courses led by approximately 79 of the world’s
leading optometry experts. ODs can take advantage of:
• More than 150 hours of valuable OD education from which to choose
• 21 hours of free continuing education and special sessions
• 32 hours of CE credit possible
Raise the Bar in Your Practice
Throughout the continuing education program SECO has assembled, attendees
will see the Raising the Bar theme in the continuing education tracks and
course titles. Athletic-themed icons and images in the program reinforce the
theme of challenging our attendees to exceed the expectations of their patients
and overcome hurdles to attain a successful practice. You’ll want to tap your

Joint Education Opportunities
It sounds a bit cliché, but we all know it’s true – optometry is a team sport. And,
SECO has designed several of its courses to accommodate optometric team
learning. The “One Team, One Dream” Track includes five courses to help ODs
and AOPs hone their practice management skills. Finally, the optometry team can
take advantage of “Closing Ceremonies – The Thrill of Vision to the Agony of Da
Feet,” which looks at systemic and ocular disease. Joint courses may be found in
both education programs.
Student Education
Young optometrists are challenged to succeed from the moment they graduate
optometry school. SECO International offers a one-day education program,
Saturday, March 1, 2008, to help students prepare to face important decisions
when they enter the optometric profession. The optometry student education
program is produced by SECO International, LLC, and supported in part by
The Vision Care Institute.
Student sessions include “Optometry’s Marathon and a Half,” “Passing the Torch
– Getting Involved,” and “Twelve Strategies that Will Define Your Success.”
Students who complete all three of SECO’s student education program courses
will receive a $100 cash stipend in appreciation for their participation. In addition,
SECO International will host a party for optometry students on Friday, February
29 from 9 to 11 p.m. For more information, visit www.seco2008.com.

Allied Ophthalmic Professionals (AOP)
Education Program Highlights
As Chairman of the Allied
Ophthalmic Professional (AOP)
program, I invite you to attend SECO
2008. I think you will agree that this
year’s AOP educational program is
one of SECO’s most innovative and
comprehensive programs to date.
Widely known as The Education
DestinationTM, SECO will feature
an AOP program that includes 13
all-new educational tracks and more than 200 hours of
continuing education courses from which to choose.
As most of these courses have no fee, SECO 2008
delivers tremendous value to the optometric team that is
unsurpassed in the industry.
This year’s courses – many of which will have titles
based on the raise the bar theme, which is inspired by
the 2008 Olympic Games – include a broad range of
topics that will appeal to everyone from the novice to the
veteran optometry professional. To help registrants better
identify courses related to a topic of interest, SECO’s
2008 AOP program is organized into education tracks. In
addition, SECO offers a joint education track designed
for the optometrist and his/her team. Titled “One Team,
One Dream,” this track includes several key courses in
the areas of practice management, frames and lenses, and
systemic/ocular diseases.
For professionals who need their certification, SECO
2008 offers reviews for all major AOP certifications. As
part of your AOP program registration, you’ll have full
access to Optometry’s Marketplace™, one of the largest
exhibit halls in optometry. This year, it is even larger with
70,000 square feet of exhibit hall space and nearly 300
exhibitors demonstrating the latest in the profession. And,
it wouldn’t be SECO if there weren’t numerous social
events held throughout the meeting. You will have access
to all of SECO’s innovative events, including the opening
reception, the free lunches in Optometry’s Marketplace™
and the big Saturday night bash.
I encourage you to register now to take advantage of the
many opportunities SECO offers for you to raise the bar
both professionally and personally. You may visit
www.seco2008.com to learn more about the AOP
education program and register online. I look forward to
seeing you in Atlanta this February!
Sincerely,
Thomas E. Griffith, OD

Accreditation Information
from SECO International a verification of
attendance summary letter. Not all licensing
boards or accrediting agencies store continuing
education attendance records for licensed
professionals; therefore, SECO recommends
that attendees keep attendance verification
vouchers for three years. SECO encourages
attendees to be familiar with the continuing
education attendance reporting requirements of
any professional licenses that they possess.
Continuing Education
Accreditation
SECO makes every effort to secure
accreditation for education courses/workshops
as appropriate through ABO, AOA, COPE,
JCAHPO, and NCLE. All continuing education
courses are strictly monitored to comply with
licensing board regulations for accreditation.
Attendees who fail to comply with attendance
requirements will not receive continuing
education credit for that course. Attendance
requirements include:
1. An attendee must present a SECO Passport
name badge and an admission ticket to the
door monitor to gain entrance to the course.
2. Once the course begins, an attendee may
not be absent from a course for a cumulative
time in excess of 10 minutes.
3. Upon exiting the course at its conclusion,
the door monitor will exchange with an
attendee the course ticket for an attendance
verification voucher.
Please note: If accreditation for a
course or workshop is not known at press
time, SECO will indicate this in the course
description. Where SECO has submitted
materials for review but accreditation was not
confirmed before this brochure was printed,
courses are annotated “submitted.” Please
read the course descriptions carefully to be
certain of those that are approved and those
that are pending. An updated approval list is
available online at www.seco2008.com.
Reporting Attendance
SECO International reports continuing
education attendance approximately 30 days
post-SECO 2008. SECO reports to licensing
organizations continuing education attendance
for attendees who provide their license
information. SECO recommends attendees
personally verify the accuracy of their
continuing education attendance upon receiving
Please note: Allied ophthalmic
professionals must complete a course
evaluation for ABO, NCLE and JCAHPO
courses and return it to the room monitor in
order to receive credit for attending a course.
State Licensing Boards of Optometry
For attendees who provide their license
information, SECO International will report
continuing education attendance to the state
licensing optometry boards of Alabama,
Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky,
Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West
Virginia. Additionally, SECO International will
report continuing education attendance to any
state licensing optometry board upon request.
ARBO Optometric Education
Tracker Identification
SECO reports to the Optometric Education
Tracker Identification program managed by the
Association of Regulatory Boards of Optometry
(ARBO). For attendees who provide their
ARBO OE Tracker number, SECO will report
continuing education attendance to ARBO.
Attendees who do not know their OE Tracker
number, or wish to learn more about the OE
Tracker number, may visit www.arbo.org or
call ARBO at (866) 869-6852.
CE Broker
For Florida-licensed professionals who provide
their entire license number, SECO will report
continuing education attendance to CE Broker.
SECO will not submit attendance information
to CE Broker without a valid Florida license
number. SECO International’s CE Provider
number for CE Broker is 50-1731. Attendees
may visit www.cebroker.com for more
information.
