HOW DO DIGITAL AIDS DIFFER
FROM TRADITIONAL ONES?
With the power of advanced digital processing, your
Paragon hearing instrument reproduces the sounds
around you with optimum fidelity. By separating
sounds into numerous channels and bands, your
hearing healthcare provider can digitally modify the
sounds to meet your unique hearing needs.
Big sound in a small package
With the power of today’s digital circuitry, the
Paragon can accommodate a wide variety of hearing
losses and still fit in the smallest of instruments.
Often times, people wonder whether they need one
or two hearing aids. In general, when there is hearing
loss in both ears, and a person is considered a candidate
for amplification, two hearing aids will be recommended. This will not always be the case, but do not
feel that you have to make this decision by yourself.
Your hearing healthcare provider will base this decision
on a number of factors, including your hearing test
and other information regarding your individual
needs. They will then inform you of your options.
If two hearing aids are recommended, but you are
having a difficult time deciding whether to purchase
one or two, consider these important advantages of
a binaural (two ear) fitting:
• A more natural, “stereo sound”, and an overall
balanced feeling
• Improved ability to localize where sound is coming from, which is a crucial safety issue
PARAGON OPTIONS
• Less fatigue since listening with two ears makes it
easier to hear, thus increasing listening comfort
Frontwave… the directional microphone that
improves understanding in noise up to 30% - 50%.
Frontwave enhances what you want to hear while
reducing distracting background noise (available
with Full Shell and Half Shell on Paragon 4 only).
• Increased ability to understand speech in normal
conditions and in the presence of background noise
Volume Control…with Advanced Digital
Processing, no volume control is necessary. However,
if desired, manual volume controls are available.
Multi-memory… with up to four memories, it’s
like having four hearing aids in one.
Flexible…accommodates any hearing loss, from
mild to severe.
• Less power needed, which reduces the interference
of background noise and the chance of feedback
• Both ears stay active, reducing the chance of the
unaided ear losing its ability to hear or understand
• Cushions loud sounds, as sudden loud sounds lose
their “jarring” effect when divided between two ears
• Improved clarity, which leads to better understanding
