About Our Practice
Philosophy of Treatment
Dr. Lazzara’s philosophy of treatment strives to
create exceptional overall results by focusing on
facial appearance, the overall smile, and the
individual teeth. At the initial appointment, he
evaluates each of these elements independently,
and then designs a treatment plan to address
individual patient needs.
ABOUT DR. LAZZARA
Dr. John Lazzara attended the LSU School of
Dentistry, earning his D.D.S. in 1996. After
dental school, he enrolled at the Center for
Advanced Dental Education at St. Louis
University, where he completed a 30-month
residency program in Orthodontics, earning his
M.S. in 1998.
Dr. Lazzara is a member of the American
Association of Orthodontics, the Florida Dental
Association, and the Beaches Dental Study
Club. He was among the first orthodontists in
the U.S. trained to use the Invisalign system,
achieving Invisalign certification in 1999. He is
Northeast Florida’s only certified provider for
the revolutionary iBraces custom lingual
appliance system. Dr. Lazzara has also achieved
Board Certification by the American Board of
Orthodontics, meaning he has voluntarily
completed an additional examination to further
refine and demonstrate his diagnostic and
clinical skills.
Dr. Lazzara and his wife, Jennifer, have 3 sons.
In his spare time he enjoys golf, fishing, running,
and cycling. He is also actively involved in
youth sports, and was named Recreational
Coach of the Year by the Ponte Vedra Soccer
Club in 2007.
Treatment protocols are driven primarily by
facial esthetics emphasizing non-extraction
therapy with appropriate development of the
dental arches.
Dr. Lazzara advocates use of the Herbst and
other functional appliances to facilitate
correction of large overbites without surgery.
Use of headgear, elastics, and other techniques
requiring excessive patient cooperation are
minimized in order to achieve the most
predictable treatment results possible.

monocrystalline sapphire esthetic brackets, the
