French-Norwegian master storyteller Abbi Patrix brings to London his acclaimed show featuring
Trolls, tricks and a young man's quest for love, in the wild winter forests of mythical Scandinavia.
Using a unique blend of theatre, movement and traditional narrative, developed over decades, Patrix
unveils snow-cloaked woods teeming with Trolls. Huge, powerful and too stupid to see reason, Trolls
are feared by all, except one small boy with a fearless heart and a few powers of his own. Further into
the woods, a young man's quest for true love is aided by a mysterious mentor: a friend, a collector, or –
possibly - a killer?
Based on a well-known Norwegian Wonder tale, The Companion is a story of love, peril, and an
unexpected friendship. With no more than a drum, a bare stage, and his own famously magnetic
theatrical presence, Patrix will weave intricate paths through the North of legend, turning a simple
fairytale into an epic journey of mystery, illusion and adventure.
ABBI PATRIX
Abbi Patrix has been exploring the art of storytelling for the past thirty years with his Compagnie du
Cercle which he created in 1980.
Working both as a solo performer and as a collaborator with other artists, Abbi Patrix’s work starts at
the cross-roads where theatre, music and movement meet, on a permanent quest for new ways to
enrich the form of storytelling.
Abbi Patrix also co-directs La Maison du Conte with Michel Jolivet , where he has run " Le Labo " for the
past seven years : a research workshop for storytelling, improvisation and transmission.

THE CRICK CRACK CLUB is England’s premier promoter and programmer of performance storytelling. It
has led the revival of performance storytelling in the UK since 1987 – focusing on the contemporary
performance of international folktale, fairytales, myth & epic for predominantly adult audiences.
In London, the club programmes regular sell-out performances at the Soho Theatre and Rich Mix as
well as The Forge. It took the alternative Christmas spirit by storm with its Festival of Fairytales for
Grown-ups at The Bargehouse in December 2011 and 2013. It collaborates actively with numerous
theatres, arts centres, festivals and music venues across the UK. It also tours work nationally; offers
practical training, and mentors emerging artists.
