Their Top-Secret Mission
Our purpose is to provide Laurier students with the opportunity to participate in the production of
musical theatre events, while developing performance and production skills, and to produce a quality,
entertaining musical production each year. We aim to foster and share an appreciation for musical
theatre and other performing arts. Laurier Musical Theatre is open to all members of the Laurier and
surrounding communities.
Just Who Are These LMT People Anyway?
The 2006-2007 Executive Board:

Promotions Director: Meagan Tuck
Executive Choreographer: Laura Killeen
Vocal Director: Danielle LaCasse
Executive Stage Manager: Sarah Erdman

Technical Director: Shawn Trask
Past President: Miriam Fine
Where Did They Come From?
Laurier Musical Theatre is a Campus Club at Wilfrid Laurier University that grew out of the 2003-2004
independent on-campus production of Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Since then, we have
produced the musicals Fame (2005), Urinetown (2006), and now Bat Boy, as well as multiple Cabarets. LMT
has grown immensely from its humble beginnings and continues to grow more and more each day. LMT still
enjoys the company of some of its original members, both in the cast and as a part of the Executive Board.
LMT also welcomes and looks forward to the new members that it receives each year.
Partner Charity: The Literacy Group Of Waterloo Region
Laurier Musical Theatre began a partnership with The Literacy Group last year. A percentage of proceeds
from our main productions and other club events are donated to the group at the end of each year. The
Literacy Group is a Community-Based organization that was formed in April 1999, committed to improving basic reading, writing, and math skills of adults (18 and over) in the community. We look forward to a
continued partnership with the Literacy Group.

Auditions for the Winter Cabaret are in February 2007. Executive Board positions open for
application in March 2007. For more information, please contact [email protected] or visit our

Meagan Tuck
Brendan Whiting
Meagan is a fourth year Spanish and
English major. This is her fourth production with Laurier Musical Theatre
and she is proud to be one of its original
members, watching it grow from an independent production to a fantastically
well-organized and successful club and
show. Her involvement in LMT has shaped her not only as
a performer but also as a person. She has been involved
both on stage and off, also working on the promotion of
the past three shows and being last year’s Cast Rep. She is
eternally grateful to everyone that has been a part of her
LMT and Laurier experience. Past roles include Dionne
in Hair, a drama student in Fame, and Hope Cladwell in
Urinetown. Meagan can’t wait until the cast party – she
can’t even imagine how last year’s can be topped… but she
knows it will be!
Brendan is a 4th year music student. He
has a collection of miniature dictionaries, and a fear of people touching his nipples, which he is gradually getting over.
He also doesn’t like celery, except for in
soups. Favorite past shows include La
Cage aux Folles, Urinetown , and Thoroughly Modern Millie. He’s from Kamloops, BC.
Tammy Whetham
Tammy is thrilled to be involved in
LMT for a second year after being a
part of last year’s unforgettable musical
Urinetown, playing the role of Penelope
Pennywise. Tammy is a second year vocal major at WLU studying with Daniel
Lichti. With a love for the stage since
she was a child, Tammy has always dreamed of having a
career in the theatre. Some past theatrical appearances include Fantine in Les Miserables with GYMT, Little Red in
Little Red Riding Hood with RCMPI, Marty in Grease with
SMTS, Mrs. Baskin in Big: The Musical, and Kim in Bye
Bye Birdie with her high school. Despite dancing around
in a furry costume all day in 30-degree weather, Tammy’s
favourite mark on stage thus far is no doubt working in
Dora’s Sing Along Adventure at Paramount Canada’s Wonderland, playing the roles of Boots, Dora, and Puppeteer.
A word of advice: Never allow animals to pressure you in the
forest; you might regret it.

Caitlin Robson
Hamid Siddiqui
Caitlin Robson is ecstatic to be part of
an LMT production two years in a row.
Whisked away from her home in the
GTA at the tender age of nearly-fourteen, Caitlin began her theatrical career
from her new, VERY small-town location, outside the outskirts of the village
of Phelpston (approx. 20 min. north of Barrie via hwy 27)
for want of anything else to do. Past performances include
“Little Becky Two-Shoes” in LMT’s production of Urinetown her first year; “Feuilly” in Les Misérables, and “Big
Deal” in West Side Story, (Barrie Central Collegiate). Caitlin would like to take this opportunity to request that her
fans STOP sending her marriage proposals. She is NOT
single, and she IS monogamous (sorry, Jud from Utah).
Caitlin would also like to thank her friends and family for
their unceasing support in all her endeavours and mention
that she has declared Spanish as her major.
Hamid, a first year business student, is
thrilled to be a part of LMT. This was
a great way for him to continue performing while being in a professional
program. He spent the last four years
performing at O’Neill’s Performing
Arts School in Oshawa. Bat Boy is the
funniest and most bizarre musical has has been in to date.
Other musical experiences have been Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Bye Bye Birdie, Fiddler on the
Roof, Copacabana, and Guys and Dolls. He also wants to
send a shout out to his guys at 2 North King Street.
Mark Ross
“Oh, like the son of Batman?” ... “Oh,
then like, on a baseball team?”
Unfortunately, Mark had to answer
“No,” to both of these questions when
asked what the show was about. Nonetheless, he’s excited to be a part of
Laurier Musical Theatre’s Bat Boy: The
Musical! Mark Ross, or Ross Mark as he’s known by absolutely no one, anywhere, not even as a joke, is more than
happy to return to the stage for his third time at Laurier,
appearing first as Tyrone Jackson in FAME: The Musical,
and as Officer Barrel in last year’s production of Urinetown: The Musical. Mark would like to thank everyone involved with Laurier Musical Theatre for their contribution
to such a great club, and gives his thanks and love to his
friends and family for their incredible, unending support.
Enjoy the show! Cheers!
Jen Sironi
Jennifer is a fourth year Biology and Psychology major at Wilfrid Laurier University and this is her third time working in
Laurier Musical Theatre. Jennifer has been
active in the drama program since high
school and has appeared in such productions as The Odd Couple (Vinnie), Barefoot
in the Park (Corie), and LMT’s production of Hair (Steve) and
Fame! (Mr. Mrs. Meyers). Jennifer also likes silly accents and
is excited to finally have a girl’s part. It’s Jen’s birthday today,
so be nice to her.

BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL
Story and Book by:
Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming
Music and lyrics by:
Shawn Trask
laurence o’keefe
Shawn is a 19-year-old strikingly handsome
young man from the outskirts of Rothsay, Ontario. He has been involved with a
number of well-received play productions
-including Sears Festival - throughout his
high school career such as either the lead
role or technical director or both for The
Farm Show, Whose Story Is It Anyway?, The War Show: You’ll
Get Used To It, Snow White and Friends, Knights of the Square
Table, Alice In Wonderland, and Good Night Desdemona,
Good Morning Juliet. Through it all, he has learned that doing
something you love, even though it is an extreme amount of
work, is worth the sacrifices you must make in order to achieve
that ultimate goal. Being just a first-year student, he plans on
bringing his all to the Laurier Musical Theatre team in this
year’s production of Bat Boy.

This is Laura’s fourth year with LMT,
and definitely her favourite so far,
thanks to the truly amazing team, show,
and cast. In previous years, Laura stagemanaged Hair, produced Fame and
Urinetown, and was founding president
in the 2004-2005 year. She has been
involved in musical theatre since high school, and has
worked on productions such as Into The Woods Jr. (Producer, Cast), Wonderland (Lighting), R. Murray Schafer’s
The Enchanted Forest (Forest Guide Captain), and Bye Bye
Birdie (Running Crew), as well as co-writing, co-directing,
and performing in various musical revues and cabarets.
Laura is a recent graduate of Laurier’s Honours Communication Studies program, and, as promised in this very
space last year, she’s hanging around in Waterloo for a
while to keep working with LMT. She is incredibly honoured that anyone still wants her around. Some day she’ll
get sick of LMT, and will move on to bigger things (but not
better things, because what could be better?), hopefully
also involving musical theatre.
This is Brad’s first appearance in a
musical and he is amped. He has
been involved in drama and theatre
throughout high school and decided
to continue this trend through university. Brad is in his first year of the
Honours Business program. He is extremely excited to be playing the role of Ron in LMT’s
production of Bat Boy, and is grateful to have worked
with such a great cast.

Kara Mendlowitz
Kara is in her third year of the combined
Biology and Psychology program and is
extremely excited to play Ruthie Taylor,
a SCREAMER, in LMT’s production
of Bat Boy this year. Kara has always
had a passion for acting, and has been
performing in plays since she was eight years old such
as Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, The Wizard of
Oz, and 1867. Whether it was at sleep-over camp, a school
production, the Fringe Festival here at Laurier, or through
the acting company Characters, Kara has always enjoyed
being on stage. This is the first time that Kara has been a
part of LMT, and is thankful that she had the opportunity
to work with such a great cast! Enjoy the Show!
Sara Mitchell
Sara is thrilled to have had the opportunity to sit on Laurier Musical Theatre’s
executive board as sponsorship director
and to be performing in Bat Boy! This is
her second production with Laurier Musical Theatre. Sara is a third year Political Science major and has always loved
the stage. She has had many years of classical vocal training both privately as well as in choirs. She has competed in
numerous music festivals and has also had the opportunity
to record vocals and narratives in some of Toronto’s top
recording studios. Past musical theatre performances include Urinetown: The Musical (LMT), Fiddler on the Roof
(W.E.S.T.), and Notre Dame de Paris. Sara is delighted to
be returning to the stage once again and to have worked
with such a wonderful cast and crew! xoxox
Kory Preston
Hailing from the small town of Wallacetown Ontario, Kory is a natural for the
role of Roy. As a first year Global Studies student at Wilfrid Laurier University. Kory is eager to join the Laurier
Musical Theatre Company in this years
production. Kory has been in many productions with the West Elgin Dramatic Society as well as
Wildcat Theatre at West Elgin Secondary School. Some
of his previous roles include The Cockroach (Chateau La
Roach), Ben (Let’s Murder Marsha), and Seymour (Little
Shop of Horrors). Kory also directs the West Elgin Dramatic Society’s summer program for children.

cast of Bat Boy. Kaitlin is a fourth year
English and Film major at Wilfrid
Laurier. Kaitlin loves to sing, act, and
tries to dance. Last year, she played
Wilhemina the Stockfish in Urinetown:
The Musical. Before that, she dabbled
in theatre, taking two summers of performing arts camp,
performing in a grade 12 school play, and being Rosie in
a grade 5 production of Clowns. Kaitlin is thrilled to be
involved with LMT again.
Jon Krohn
Jon has been involved with LMT since
its inception, and has had a lead role in
its productions of Hair and Urinetown.

since the age of 13. His first musical theatre role was as Joseph, in Joseph and the

Fiddler on the Roof. He has also been involved in several
choirs in past years. David is thrilled to be a member of

Janice is a second year Political Science
and English student from Toronto. She
played Soupy Sue in LMT’s production
of Urinetown last year, and was also in
the musicals Bye Bye Birdie and Mary
Poppins during elementary school.
Janice is overjoyed to be fulfilling her
dream of portraying the archetypal Asian woman sheriff
this year in Bat Boy and thinks it is quite awesome that
she gets to wear a cool hat two years in a row for Laurier
Musical Theatre. Offstage, she thinks politics is important
and enjoys the fascinating wonderment of LOST. LMTers,
I hold you all close to my heart - somewhere between Fred
Astaire, electoral reform, and Passion Flakies.
how it all went down...
Synopsis
In a cave many miles to the south... Just outside the coal-mining-turned-ranching town of Hope
Falls, West Virginia, a half-boy/half-bat creature is discovered by a trio of spelunking siblings. Upon
capturing the feral beast, they hand him over to the Sheriff, who, noting the boy’s animalistic qualities, decides that the best course of action is to place him in the care of the local veterinarian, Dr.
Parker, and his wife and daughter. With a little TLC and some extensive education, Meredith and
Shelley Parker turn the Bat Boy (now named Edgar) into an upstanding and well-spoken young
gentleman.
Meanwhile, the town of Hope Falls is suffering a major crisis. The coal mines recently dried up,
and the townspeople have turned to raising cattle, with even worse luck. Spurred by rumours of the
strange Bat Boy and in need of a scapegoat, the townspeople come to believe that Edgar is the cause
of a plague on their herd.
Naively, Edgar tries to fit in with the prejudiced townsfolk and, partly driven by Dr. Parker’s
vengeful plotting, they turn on him and drive him deep into the woods. Shelley, who is in love with
Edgar, runs after him to Meredith’s horror and despair, for Meredith has a deep, dark secret she has
kept hidden for far too long...
Michelle Lutz
Michelle is a fourth year music education student and has always loved being
a part of theatre. She has stage managed three shows in Laurier’s Fr!nge
Festival and has been part of the stage
crew for The Sound of Music, Joseph and
the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat,
and Peter Pan. She has worked as a member of the sound
crew for Chapter Two and performed in the pit band for
Oklahoma. This is her first time stage managing a musical
and she is very excited to be a part of Bat Boy. It’s going
to be a great show!
Kim Manning
Kim Manning is a fourth year Honours
Psychology student, with a minor in Music, who is very excited to be a member of
the Bat Boy cast. This is the first time she
has worked with Laurier Musical Theatre;
however she has been singing all her life
and has been in musicals before, including a production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour
Dreamcoat in Kingston, Ontario.

Jodi Jahnke
Seanna Kennedy
Music has always been a huge part
of Jodi’s life and to this day she still
dreams about going back to Markham
(yes, that’s where she’s from) and being a part of her high school’s music
program all over again. Now with the
help of Laurier Musical Theatre she
has once again gotten back into the musical groove. To
say that Jodi is ecstatic about playing Meredith Parker in
this year’s production would be a serious understatement.
She first heard about Bat Boy in grade 10 when she went
to Queens for their E=MC2 program, where she enrolled
in Musical Theatre for a week. During her time there she
was asked to perform in a scene from Bat Boy as Mrs.
Parker and fell in love with the role. As soon as she got
home she ordered in the CD from the States, and it has
been in her CD player (well, now MP3 player) ever since!
She’s a second year BBA student and is too busy for her
own good...but it doesn’t matter. Bat Boy always gets first
priority!
Seanna is a fourth year vocal major
at WLU. It is also her fourth year being involved with LMT having played
Sheila in Hair, Serena in Fame, and
directed last year’s Urinetown. She
has been involved in amateur and professional theatre for 13 years and has
held every position from lead role, to running crew, to
General Manager, to vocal director, to choreographer,
to girl who makes the coffee and buys the snacks. Some
favorite theatre experiences include playing Peaseblossom in the world premiere of Midsummer, a musical
adaptation of Shakespeare’s play, playing Sarah Brown
in Guys and Dolls and being the General Manager and
Co-Artistic Director for Bronze Youth Theatre this past
summer and assistant writing, directing and co-starring as Robyn in Love and War: A Musical Revue for
BYT. With over 40 productions under her belt, Seanna
is confident that musical theatre is the career for her.
However if that falls through she can always resort to
being a professional water-tubing spotter.
Hilary Jones
Hilary is thrilled to be taking on the
task of President of LMT this year.
Her previous experience within LMT
includes being a cast member for the
previous 2 years as well as Promotions
Director last year. Hilary also attended
a Regional Arts High-school in which
she majored in voice. Hilary has spent the last 5 summers
teaching voice at a musical theatre camp. Her previous
theatrical experience includes Les Misérables (Chorus),
The Sound of Music (Chorus), Fame (Ms. Bell), Urinetown
(Cladwell’s Secretary), Clowns (Rosie), Clue: The Musical
(Ms. Scarlet), and Anne of Green Gables (Chorus). Hilary
would like to thank her executive team for their amazing
work behind the scenes throughout this production as well
as the cast for being the amazing performers that they are.
Hilary would also like to thank Alex, her family, and her
friends for all of their support over the last few months.
Keep smiling and reach for the stars!
Laura Killeen
Laura is a fourth year Psychology student from Burlington, Ontario. She
trained with the Burlington Dance
Academy for fifteen years in ballet,
jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, pointe, and
musical theatre. During high school,
she performed in and choreographed
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, West
Side Story, and Godspell. She has had the privilege of
choreographing the last three of Laurier Musical Theatre’s productions, Hair, Fame, and Urinetown. She
would like to sincerely thank the cast and crew of Bat
Boy for all of their creativity and dedication. “Life may
not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we
should dance.”

Heather Hamilton
Laura is a first-year Archaeology student. She enjoys working backstage
in theatre. Previously she has done a
four-month co-op term with Kitchener’s

Assistant Stage Manager for the Grand
River Collegiate production of Fame.
Laura also likes doing face painting, which she volunteers
for at Sheppard Public School’s annual Fun Fair.
Heather is ecstatic to be a part of Bat
Boy this year. After beginning her
journey with LMT last year as a part
of Urinetown, her love for the theatre
has grown. Catching the acting bug at
an early age, Heather has always been
involved with the arts in school and in
the community, being in musicals such as West Side Story,
Pippin, Pirates of Penzance and Chicago. Last year she was
also a part of the Laurier Fr!nge Festival playing the role of
Alex in Hip My Angel. At Laurier, Heather is a second year
English major and Arts Co-op student.

her favorite poem: Kisses spread germs

Michael is an aesthetically pleasing
young lad. Michael was born at a very
young age and in later years became
much older. He is known throughout
the land as being the guy who is funnier
and more popular then Kyle Matheson,
whom he despises. He is also a terrible
liar, last year he said he was 19, this year he says he is
20. Which is it Michael, come on? Michael, however, does
have stunning eyes, so much so that many a song has been
inspired by them, like skinimerinky-dink and any song
with the word blue mentioned. Michael can cook 2 minute rice in 38 seconds. Michael just found out what acting
was 16 minutes ago while hanging out down stairs, and he
is excited but still a little confused. Michael once ate two
live goldfish. He also contracted a flesh eating larva that
inhabited the back of his neck. Michael has one hundred
girlfriends.

Ashley is in second year, majoring in
Business, and has never been happier
to be part of such a rewarding production with amazing cast, crew, and execs. She is from the town of Brampton,
where she went to an arts school majoring in performing arts. She has stage
managed for Bye Bye Birdie, Urinetown, and has been in
several plays herself as an actress. Ashley is very excited
to be going on her second year as an executive member in
LMT. The theatre is her passion and she is grateful for its
release from the stresses of ordinary day-to-day hassles.
She is very grateful for the opportunity to work on the
production of Bat Boy. It’s going to be an excellent show;
great work everyone!

Ken Aldridge
Ken is a second year Biology major
and this is his first show with LMT.
Ken has been interested in musical
theatre for a number of years, appearing in several shows in Kingston, most recently as Sky Masterson in KCVI’s production of Guys
and Dolls. Bat Boy has been by far the most fun Ken
has had in musical theatre and owes it all to the entire cast and crew who helped make this show possible. Special thanks to all family, 6 amazing friends,
and wonderful girlfriend who have all been so supportive through this entire process. Enjoy! P.S. I look much
better with hair.
Christine Aonso
Christine is a Communication Studies
major. This is her first performance with
LMT and she is trés excited for the opportunity. Her past credits include Singing in
the Shower, Karaoke at the Gat, Living
Room Sing-Along, and Campfire Tribical
Tribal Tunes. Christine would like to give
great thanks to her boyfriends for their continual love. She
would also like to thank her roommates who have to listen
to her unchained melodies far too much, and for joining her
practice vocally and verbally, even when it was not necessary.
Special thanks also goes out to her cast members who always
directed her to her spots on stage. As Christine is adopted she
has no family to thank, and she endured to this point through
her own personal strength, with the companionship of her
dogs Benson and Jack. It is also noted that one day her name
will be in lights. Muchos Love C2.
Kale Boehmer
Kale is a second-year student taking Canadian Studies and whatever else he can fit into his packed
schedule. This is his first on-stage
performance since he played one of
Santa’s elves in kindergarten, and
he’s loving it. While Kale spends his summer singing and dancing up at camp, he’s excited to actually
be dancing the right steps and singing on-key. He’d
like to thank his friends on Foot Patrol for their support and for not laughing at him when he practices
in the 24 Lounge. He’d also like to thank his family
for being willing to leave lunch early to drive him to
rehearsal.
Jessica Bray
Jessica is a third-year student studying Fine Arts. She is very excited to
be in this year’s production of Bat
Boy, because she has had a huge
passion for drama and theatre ever
since her first drama class in grade
9. The number one reason she loves
drama is because she can act crazy and no one will
look at her funny. Jessica is graduating this year and
she is very sad to leave because she just found out
about LMT. She would have loved to have known everyone in LMT longer and be in more productions
with them because they are amazing people who
have made her last year unforgettable.
Brenna Cook
Brenna is a first year archaeology
student at laurier. An Ottawa native,
she has been sewing since she was a
child. Her interest in costuming has
developed from home-made Halloween costumes into historical recreation of medieval clothing. Brenna
enjoys the technical challenges that theatrical and
historical costuming offer. In her final year of high
school, Brenna designed and created the costume
for one of the lead characters of St. Paul’s production of Unity (1918). Brenna is very excited to be a
part of this years production and hopes to work with
Laurier Musical Theater in following years.

Devon Davis
Devon is very excited to be on the crew
of Bat Boy! This is her second time
working with LMT and she enjoys the
challenge that collecting and creating
props gives her. Devon is a third year
Communication Studies major. She
would like to thank Queen of Hearts
Costumes for taking a rather large prop off of her hands!
She would also like to thank her parents and roommates
for their support!
Dana Desimone
Dana has participated in many musical
theatre productions throughout her
life, but this is her debut in a university
production. She has performed in musicals such as Joseph and The Amazing
Technicolour Dreamcoat, My Fair Lady,
and Godspell. Dana first became fond
of the stage at the age of 5 as a competitive pianist and vocalist. Dana has participated in many choirs and festivals
and has won many awards and competitions. Dana is an
aspiring Honours Music and Political Science major here
at Laurier and is extremely excited to be in the wonderful
production.
Shannon Dickens
After watching a performance of The
Phantom of the Opera at the tender age
of six, Shannon has always wanted a
place on the stage. She started by turning her family’s kitchen into her personal theatre where she and her sister
Lindsey would belt out their favorite
songs from various musicals. Shannon’s parents later enrolled her into the Langley Fine Arts School, where she
studied for six years before moving to Oakville, Ontario.
Laurier Musical Theatre has allowed this third year English and Film student to help stretch her musical skills, and
she couldn’t be more excited! Besides Bat Boy, Shannon
9
has also performed in Stage Door in the role of Little Mary.
To Dad, Mom, Lindsey, Erik, Alison, and all the others who
have supported and continue to support me, I thank you.
Sarah Erdman
Sarah is a fourth year student of music
education and has been a part of Laurier
Musical Theatre since its first season in
03-04. Sarah has been involved in musical theatre since elementary school and
thinks life would be pretty dull without
it...she’d probably even manage to get
her homework done! Sarah’s favourite experience onstage
was as Little Sally in last year’s production of Urinetown
and her close seconds include her performances in Jekyll
& Hyde and You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Sarah traded in her acting hat this year for a stage manager one and
she thinks it’s almost as cool. Thanks to everyone who has
been involved with LMT over our four seasons for making
university THAT much better!
Miriam Fine
Miriam is delighted to be returning to
LMT for her fourth year, and couldn’t be
happier to be back on the dance floor! As
always, it has been a pleasure working &
dancing with this exceptional club. Music
theatre has been a part of Miriam’s life
since her stage debut as ‘Lucy’ in Narnia:
The Musical in Grade 3, and she hasn’t stopped singing or
dancing since. After studying music theatre at a Toronto
high school for the arts, Miriam is so thankful to be able to
continue her involvement with the arts at Laurier. Miriam
performed in LMT’s Hair, choreographed for Fame, and
served as club President last year. She is in her fourth year
in the Honours Psychology program, and couldn’t be more
proud of how this club has grown during her time at WLU!!
Thank you - To my family, friends, the wonderful cast, crew
and executives, and especially everyone who has supported
LMT over the past 4 years. “We should consider every day lost
in which we have not danced at least once.” - F. Nietzsche
