Each project uses the rendering style of a different Broadway designer to help them diversify their rendering skills. Divided into two projects based on research from two different centuries, students pattern, construct, fit and correct boned coutil corsets. Fall 2006 TH 5950 Topics in Theatre - Millinery for the Stage College of Theatre Arts and Dance, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities An in-depth, hands-on class in hat making. Divided into three projects, students construct hats in fabric, straw and felt. Fall 1996 Puppet Building Master Class, North Carolina School of the Arts, Winston-Salem, North Carolina A hands-on laboratory class, teaching puppet building using the techniques from Jim Henson Productions. 1992 The Anatomy of a Dinosaur Lecture, USITT Costume Commission annual conference Lecture on the engineering and building of the full-body dinosaur costumes built at Jim Henson Productions for the ABC Television Series, Dinosaurs. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE 12/2006present COSTUME DRAPER The Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota Working directly with Ann Hould-Ward on The Glass Menagerie , paint, dye, quilting and embroidery were employed to create a series of period looking fabrics to enhance the desired effect of realism. Set in the 1750’s, The Merchant of Venice called for a light weight pannier hoop of nylon rod, silk matelasse petticoats, a set of silk brocade stays and Watteau backed gowns of brocade, tastefully designed by Paul Tazewell.
