A
lhambra Season Partners & Guests,
Welcome! So glad you’re here with us today.
Our 49th season has started on huge successes
with Honky Tonk Angels and Big River - and now
continues with The Wiz!
On top of that, our Alhambra After Dark Music
Series for this year has sold out all performances
to date! We saw Kevin Mills as Elvis during
Valentine’s week, followed by a night with John
Denver courtesy of Ted Vigil, and a week later
Michelle Berting Brett brought back Karen Carpenter for all of The Carpenters’
greatest hits.
You still have a chance to enjoy upcoming Alhambra After Dark events:
Almost AHBA, the longest-running North American tribute to the Swedish
super group ABBA, will be here Wednesday, April 27 – Sunday, May 1 - a
sure hit. The last two shows of the series are sure to be sellouts with fast ticket
sales as well - The Rat Pack: Live & Swingin’, June 8 – 12, and Hank & My
Honky Tonk Heroes with Jason Petty, October 12 – 16. So book your seats
while you still can!
And now we bring to you on the Alhambra stage The Wiz, the “super soul
musical!” If you saw it live on NBC this past December, you know the great
energy the show produces and we couldn’t wait to bring it to our live stage just
for you. When this groundbreaking showed debuted on Broadway in 1974, it
won eight Tony Awards. Later, this musical became a hit movie with Michael
Jackson and Diana Ross! With a big and talented cast, The Wiz brings this
wonderful story to life. Full of all the songs and characters you now know and
love, I assure you, a great time is yours. So sit back and take it all in!
Looking ahead to our next show, Blithe Spirit is a fun comedy written by
Noël Coward. Angela Lansbury played the lead on Broadway and received
rave reviews. This is one of those shows that is going to really catch on once it
starts, so don’t wait until the end – there might not be any seats left!
We also have Beauty and The Beast, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Sister Act, Annie
Get Your Gun and our beloved Christmas show still to come. So there is
something this season for everyone!
As always, thank you for sharing your time with us and we look forward to
having you back at the Alhambra again real soon.
Warmest regards,
Craig
