PERFORMER-EDUCATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
"KAISER PERMANENTE EDUCATIONAL THEATRE PROGRAMS: Seeking performer-educators, must be over 18 years of age, to play ages 12 to 18. Perform and
educate school children on health issues. $3133/month w/ full benefits. California driver’s license required. All ethnicities encouraged to

Bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, Cantonese or Vietnamese is a plus.

Performer-Educators’s Responsibilities include:
Performance :
• Presenting roles that reflect an accurate educational message.
• Responsible for pre-performance preparation including; physical and vocal warm-up, make-up, costume, sound-check and any additional
assignments.
• Accepting directions and notes from the Coordinator throughout the performance year.
• Presenting a fully developed character, expecting, of yourself continued character work and to growth into the role.
• Meeting rehearsal and performance deadlines.
• Meeting deadlines on line memorization in the character role and in applicable understudy roles.
• Potentially working over 40 hours per week as business and community needs dictate, including weekends.
Community Relations:
• Representing Kaiser Permanente to the community, Kaiser Permanente Public Affairs Representatives and to the media.
• Presenting a positive view of Educational Theatre Programs at all times, whether on or off stage. When speaking to students, teachers,
school administrators, parents, or Kaiser employees, communicating in a professional, energetic and helpful manner.
• Being a role model of professionalism and service to the communities we serve during scheduled and non-scheduled hours.
• Participating in periodic special appearances, community performances, and photo shoots, during the week or on the weekends.
• Being versed on all our programs and the ETP background, and being able to communicate this information to internal/external customers.
• Understanding that the needs of the community are paramount.
Training and Education:
• Willingness to be an excellent role model in making healthy choices at all times to the communities we serve.
• Undergoing intensive education training.
• Contributing to Q&A during training session and at schools to ensure that it will be a vital educational tool (P.E.A.C.E. Signs, Secrets,
and Nightmare on Puberty Street).
• Acting as a Peer Health Educator to the students we serve.
• Communicating accurate information to students in a friendly, complete and unbiased way.
Touring:
• Approximately 8-10 weeks touring out of town required.
• Responsible for self-supervision during ordinary touring in accordance with position duties and Kaiser Permanente policies.
• Ensuring and maintaining standards of safety for yourself and others.
• Maintaining standards of cleanliness, neatness and hygiene both on and off stage.
• Learning and participating in all aspects of the set-up and strike, and the technical operation and maintenance of the set, costumes, props,
curtains, and sound system.
• Assisting in the driving, fueling, maintenance, and care of all program vehicles.
• Completing and submitting all reports and paperwork (i.e., production reports, expense reports, mileage logs, and Q&A logs).
Ensemble:
• Working cooperatively and responsibly in a group process, endeavoring always to be supportive of the group and each of its members.
• Participating in the resolution of differences in a manner respectful of the needs and differences of the group’s members.
• Communicating and supporting the Road Manager and Production Coordinator.
