Rivers, MD, FRCPC, FAAD • Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of British Columbia • Practices medical and cosmetic dermatology at Pacific Dermaesthetics, Vancouver, BC • Current President of the Canadian Society for Dermatologic Surgery • Past director of the dermatology residency training program at the University of British Columbia • Founder of Riversol Skin Care Background • Former National Director of the Canadian Dermatology Association's Sun Awareness and Skin Cancer Prevention Program; continues to serve as the Regional Director • A principal investigator of the first national study on the sun protection habits of Canadians • Presented a report to the House of Commons Hearing Committee on the Environment (effects of ozone depletion on human skin) • 22 years experience in aesthetic medicine and invited as a key speaker to present on both medical and cosmetic dermatology topics at national and international symposia Research and Publications • Author of more than 135 articles and book chapters • Research interests include skin cancer, laser and cosmetic treatments, and cosmeceuticals • Editor-‐in-‐Chief of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, the official publication of the Canadian Dermatology Association • First physician in BC to work on laser hair removal devices; performed numerous clinical studies on Botox™ as well as other neuromuscular blocking agents, injectable fillers, and non-‐invasive body contouring Education • University of Ottawa Medical School.
