OCTOBER 15-16-17, 2004
GEORGIA STATHIS
Friday:
Chiron, the Hybrid Planet
Saturday:
Helping Your Clients with Vocational Choices and Life
Transitions
Sunday Salon:
Retrogrades? So, What are they Really About and How
Long Do They REALLY Last??
!!!! NEXT MONTH’S meetings will be held at the Horizon Community Center’s multipurpose room in
north Scottsdale. The address is 15444 N. 100th St., Scottsdale. See page 7 for map and directions.
FRIDAY lecture: Chiron, discovered in 1977, is
a fascinating planetary body and its placement in a
horoscope is important. The planets it aspects
natally, the natal position it holds, and transits to it
trigger events in the life that are significant and lifechanging, particularly during the Chiron return at
around 50 and 100 years of age. Chiron is the
‘comet’ that travels between the more traditional
Saturn and the unconventional Uranus. It acts as a
bridge between traditional and non-traditional
thinking, and that is why Georgia refers to it as a
Hybrid Planet.
Its larger cycles trigger changes in the areas
ruled by the sign it transits. Friday’s discussion will
cover the above points and more.
SATURDAY Workshop - “Helping Your Client
with Vocational Choices and Life Transitions”
This is probably one of the main reasons people
come to astrologers. With people living longer and
moving through more careers, it is important to be
able to identify certain things in the horoscope that
reflect the individual’s interests and motivations.
With time and change racing ahead, plus longer and
longer life spans, it is important that an individual
understands the various facets of personality that
are revealed through hiw or her varied careers.
Georgia will be covering a portion of some of
the material she covers in her Online College class
on Vocational Guidance; and her book, Business
Astrology 101, will be used as a guide for this
lecture. Her books will be available for sale
throughout the weekend.
SUNDAY Salon - “Retrogrades? So what are
they really about and how long do they REALLY
last??”
Sunday’s salon will be held at Bonnie Wilson’s
house in east Mesa beginning at 10:00 AM.
Admission: $10.00.

The Arizona Astrologer
Letter from the President
Hello Everybody,
I would like to take the opportunity to thank the
Board for taking me in, for letting me be part of the
“astrological family” that we all are. I have been a
member since July 2001.
It all started about a year ago, when Judy
Collins, our Education Director, called on people
with certain signs to get involved with the organization. I responded. I have to tell you all what a
great year I had. In fact, as far as I was concerned
we could have had a Board meeting every week. I
really enjoyed their company and the fact that we
were doing something for the astrological community. Lots of work goes into making everything run
smoothly!
Since you do not really know me “astrologically,” and since Sarah does not have too much to
report in this newsletter, I will tell you how I
became an astrologer.
I never knew there were people called astrologers. I learned about Nostradamus only about 15
years ago, in Dallas, Texas. I read the astrology
columns, but it never crossed my mind that an
astrologer wrote them. They just were. When I
was growing up in a small town in Transylvania
(part of Romania), I talked about all kind of
thoughts and theories to my friends and their
parents, who listened to me, saying “ Where did
you get these ideas, child?” I don’t know. They
were coming from somewhere. They were very
interesting to my friends. We used to go to
gypsies, not astrologers. At the university we
studied philosophy, which was one of my favorite
subjects. When I came to school and had to read
all those metaphysical books, and realized that I
didn’t invent the wheel, I was literally crushed. I
thought I had come up with every thought there
was! Oh well, I was a mere mortal after all.
About 11 or 12 years ago I met an astrologer. I
had just moved to Washington DC, and I was at a
singles party, and there was an astrologer, Celeste
Kelley, from San Diego, who could tell lots of stuff
about me from a book with no letters, just some
numbers. I thought I had finally met God!! I
October 2004
thought Celeste was the smartest thing on the
planet. However, her make up, clothes, and hair
color were not the right ones, and I felt compelled
to tell her that, and that I wouldn’t mind trading
consultations with her, because, frankly, I couldn’t
tolerate anything that wasn’t “perfect” (how times
have changed). She decided to do an exchange of
services. That is when I first saw Solar Fire. I was
mesmerized. I was hooked, and she still has the
hair color I suggested. But it never crossed my
mind to become an astrologer, I wanted to become a cosmetics account executive. So, I
worked really hard, went higher in the business,
and pestered Celeste with questions. She always
responded.
Then, a friend gave me a book featuring the
American Indian animal cards. I laid out the cards
every morning, and it amazed me how accurate
they were. One morning, a really cold breeze went
through the room. I knew there was a spirit there.
It was a spooky experience and I threw the book
out. Later on I picked up an astrology book and
started studying. When I noticed that things were
falling into place again, I threw the books out.
Then I would buy others. Same thing. Threw them
out again. Then in the fall of 1998, I developed
Morton’s neuroma in my foot and I could hardly
walk. To this day, I cannot wear regular shoes or
dance. But I started studying astrology and never
stopped. I finally came home. I assure you that if I
hadn’t had arthritis, and if I could jog as before, I
wouldn’t be an astrologer: I would practice to be a
ballroom dancer. South Node tendencies die hard.
I became familiar with the asteroids very early
on, in the fall of 2000, when Demetra George
came to the school for a workshop. Being a
beginner I accepted them, and I incorporated them
into my work. I had a consultation with her. From
David’s presentation, you are familiar with some of
the astrological asteroids. Terpsikore was the
Greek muse of dancing. The asteroid Terpsikore is
in my 12th house at 16 degrees Virgo, oposing
asteroid Urania, the muse of astrology, which is
conjunct my Pisces Sun in the sixth.
I registered for dancing classes in 1994, and
between 1994 and 1998 I started classes four
times. Every single time, after about 5-6 weeks,
3
The Arizona Astrologer
just as I overcame my awkwardness and was
“getting”it, I developed a sharp pain in my left foot
and couldn’t walk well for months. This is how
powerful the asteroids are!
I do consultations; I have clients from different
states. I am also the Aquisition Editor for Teora,
which is the largest publishing company in Romania. I approached them last year to have certain
books translated. I put together a syllabus of
books to be published and we started with Steven
Forrest’s The Inner Sky. The book has been
translated and I am editing it as we speak. I had
owned a copy of The Inner Sky for at least 3
years, but I really didn’t read it. Then in August of
2003, I opened it and after reading one page I told
myself, Romanians have to have this book. I went
to the computer and guess what? Transiting North
Node was on my progressed Jupiter in the 9th. I
checked Steven’s birthday: his progressed Sun was
at 11º Pisces, coming to a conjunction with my
natal Sun at 11º 49’ of Pisces.
Steven responded when transiting North Node
was on my progressed Mars in the 9th. To cut a
long story short, I met Steven in person in May at
Norwac, when his progressed Sun had just
reached 11 degrees and 49 minutes! The
publisher’s Sun is at 28º Pisces conjuncting my
Mercury at 29º Pisces.
I would like to invite you to come to our next
Board meeting, which is the Saturday of the
workshop, at 10:00 AM at the Senior Center. You
will have an opportunity to see what needs to be
done and maybe you will decide to participate, just
as I did a year ago. We also need volunteers to
help out with the chairs and the books, especially if
somebody lives closer to the AFA.
Let us work together to make things to run
smoothly, so that our organization will be able to
celebrate a second Saturn return.
See you at the meeting.
Gabriella

Last month at the ASA….Dave
Campbell
Writeup by Dave Campbell - Thanks, Dave!
On Friday night, Dave presented a lecture from
his new book Forensic Astrology, which will be
published in mid-October. He discussed some
high-profile cases, including Laci and Scott
Peterson, OJ and Nicole, and Mark and Lori
Hacking. He also talked about suicide in the chart,
and gave an example of a horary question on
missing persons.
When profiling for criminal behavior check the
Moon (emotions, nurturing, conditioning from
childhood) for hard aspects (conjunction, square,
opposition, inconjunct) with Mars, Saturn, Uranus,
Neptune, Pluto. These afflictions will show the
emotional disposition of the person.
Check the Sun (Identity, Self, temperament)
for the same aspects with above planets. The
eighth house is usually dominant (many planets, or
chart ruler posited there) as well as the twelfth
(subconscious, self undoing, sorrow), and the
fourth (early childhood environment).
Finally, check for an afflicted Mars.
On Saturday, Dave described several categories of
