Puncak Niaga advocates a sustainable future
The Malaysia International Biological Symposium 2014 (i-SIMBIOMAS
2014) was held at Palm Garden Hotel IOI Resort, Putrajaya on 28-29
October 2014.
This symposium is a biennial event organised by the Department of
Biology, Faculty of Science, Universiti Putra Malaysia; to provide a platform
for an international gathering to discuss, share, exchange of ideas and
views on four domains in biological science studies: biodiversity and
conservation, ecology, genetics and physiology.
Among the renowned speakers and their presentation topics were:
• Prof. Dr. Nobuyuki Miyazaki - Development of advanced technology
“Bio-logging system” and its application in the conservation of wild
animals and ecosystem.
• Prof. Dr. Ramli Abdullah – Potential application of cloning and stem
cell technologies in Malaysia.
• Assoc. Prof. Dr Peter Boyce – Impact of Molecular Analyses of
Rheophytic and Mesophytic Asian Araceae and its role in better
understanding the origins of the flora of Sunda.
YBhg. Dato Syed Danial Syed Ariffin represented Puncak Niaga (M) Sdn
Bhd as one of the keynote speakers and presented a paper titled ‘Future
Approach in Addressing Climate Change’ to the participants who mostly
comprised of researchers, postgraduate students, experts, scientists,
academicians and representatives from government and nongovernment agencies.
The paper highlighted on the impact of climate change, how it affects
water as one of our most fundamental basic needs to live. It also
examined the readiness of water utilities to adapt and mitigate climatic
change impact in which a series of adaptation & mitigation measures,
both short-term and long-term, that have been carried out by the
government. The paper also touches on the need to be more innovative
and creative in order to achieve a “green, holistic and sustainable”
solution to the climate change and that a concerted group effort is
fundamental to address the issues concerned.
Participation in intellectually constructive events such as this will help
bolster Puncak Niaga’s image as a progressive and caring corporate
citizen that plays an active role in the preservation of the environment to
maintain a sustainable future for all.
