Risk factors, transmission routes and impact on diseases spread, management and control. Transmission dynamics. Types of epidemiological studies. How to define an epidemiological research question? Data interpretation in epidemiological studies: measures of impact, confounding and bias, cause and effect, commonly used software for statistical calculations. Main principles of diagnostic trials and epidemiological/clinical study design: protocol development, questionnaire design, sample size, study conduct. “Good epidemiological practice”: ethics, data protection, data management.
