Effectivity: Elgin Eagle, Eagle Waterless and other Elgin Sweepers built on 2005 and 2006 GMC/Isuzu T7500 chassis. This Bulletin provides instructions for clearing the “Check Engine” light and a installing softPurpose: ware update in affected the GMC/Isuzu T7500 chassis computer. Procedure: ALW AYS REFER TO S AFETY SECTION IN OPERATORS M ANU AL BEFORE ST ARTING WORK. Operators and maintenance personnel should frequently review Elgin’s website for Technical Tips and Updates regarding the operation and maintenance of Elgin products. (www.elginsweeper.com) The GMC/Isuzu T7500 chassis fuel level sender is not used for Elgin Sweeper operation. Some versions of the the GMC/Isuzu chassis computer may recognize the disconnected fuel sender as a “fault” and cause the “CHECK ENGINE” indicator to illuminate. A special GMC/Isuzu software update is available for Elgin Sweeper equipped chassis. The software update will “ignore” the fuel sender circuit and prevent the illumination of the “Check Engine” light for that fault. Because this is a modification of the chassis software, the changes to the program must be documented by GMC for each individual chassis. 1. Contact the servicing GMC dealer to confirm the chassis “Check Engine” light is illuminated because of the fuel sender circuit fault. 2. Contact Lisa Siejko (847-622-7062) at Elgin Sweeper with the name and dealership contact information for the servicing GMC/Isuzu dealer. Chassis VIN and Elgin serial number of the affected unit must also be supplied at this time. 3. Elgin Sweeper will contact GMC engineering to supply the required chassis documentation information and arrange the delivery of the special software to the GMC dealer. 4. Contact the local GMC Dealer to schedule re-programming with the required software update. Because of the required documentation with GMC engineering, the sweeper may need to be left at the GMC dealer for several days. 5. GMC dealer should install the new software and clear the existing “fuel sender fault” code. NOTE: A 150ohm resistor is installed in the chassis fuel sender circuit (at the fuel tank sender connector). Because the new software ignores the fuel sender circuit, the resistor is not necessary. Future production GMC chassis will have the software revision installed at the GMC factory (availability date is unknown at this time.) Fuel for the chassis and sweeper engines is drawn from a common tank and the fuel level can be read from a FUEL LEVEL gauge on the sweeper operator console. 07/06 0703011-A
