O
ur Persephone Blend celebrates
the arrival of Spring. This year
we blended Tres Santos Colombia and
Kangocho Kenya to create a coffee with
notes of orange zest, kumquat, and apricot jam. This juicy and full bodied coffee
Nov-Jan
finishes with refreshing hints of hibis-

cus and rosehips.
We named our Spring blend in honor of
the Goddess Persephone. According to Greek mythology,
Persephone was kidnapped by the god of the underworld.
Persephone’s mother, the goddess of harvest, was so upset
about Persephone’s abduction that she forbid the earth
from producing any food. Eventually Zeus arranged for
Persephone’s return to Earth. But because Persephone
had eaten pomegranate seeds (the fruit of the underworld) she could only return to her mother for six months
of the year.
This is how the seasons began according to Greek my-
thology. In Fall and Winter, the Earth is cold and barren because Persephone lives in the underworld and her
mother mourns. But when Persephone returns to Earth,
the goddess of harvest turns the world to Spring and
Summer and everything flowers again.
